*Poli* on Teen Open Diary

I saw your mention of Teen Open Diary in the colour thread: tell me that I wasn't the only one with an angsty TOD 10 years ago?! Who knows, maybe we used to note each other? haha.

In other news, is anyone around?

Re: *Poli* on Teen Open Diary

  • OMG, TOD. I forgot all about that. I had one, too.

  • I had an angsty teen offline diary 30 years ago. Wait there was no TOD then Smile
  • Sun! Um, no, you definitely weren't the only one ;)

Wanna hear a really angsty story? I started my TOD just before school started my sophomore year, and I wrote in it practically every day. My best guy friend at the time, who happened to be in love with me (which I didn't know until later), also started one so that he could follow mine. We'd always comment on each other's entries, and his would all be something like"The perfect girl, so far away, I wish so much, that she would stay...." And I'd be all, "Hm, I wonder who he's writing about?"

It eventually blew up, and then we stayed friends, and then I visited him college and met his roommate, aka DH. Crazy, huh?

In a fit of nostalgia a year or two after I stopped writing in it, I downloaded the whole thing onto Microsoft Word. It was over 500 pages, single-spaced, at least 250 pages of it bad teenage poetry ;)

So no, you weren't alone! Can you still access yours?
  • I used to have one as well. I wish I remembered the name so I could download the entries. I also wrote religiously in a paper journal which was accidently thrown away in a move :( I lost my last year of high school and 4 years of college and cried so much when I found out it was gone.
  • P.S. I've been looking at mine since you posted! I found it on my hard drive :) I'm horribly embarrassed by how angsty I was, but also kind of shocked at how well written it was. You can tell I preferred books over people, ha :P

Unfortunately I don't have mine anymore- it was deleted due to inactivity and I forgot to download it. I started writing when I was 16 and had two years at TOD before moving to OD (I still write from time to time in my OD which I've had for 8 years now- although the site is ridiculously poorly maintained so I tend not to update frequently). I look back at some of my entries when I started at OD (age 19) and cringe, so I hate to think what those from 16 would have been like! I believe I started my diary just to bitch and gossip about girls at my school! haha. It then became a very angst-filled and shameful!

Crazy story!

What was your diarist name over there? I'm trying to recall my original name. I think it was something French? haha.

  • I've never head of TOD until right this second but I feel like I missed out on something! I just googled and found OD. I think this would have been right up my alley in HS.

I had soo many journals growing up. There's only one that I've kept, it's from 8th grade until 10th with a few random "update" entries. I stopped writing for the last two years of HS because I started getting into some trouble and was scared my mom was going through my room. Those are really the years I wish I would have documented.

I'd start one now if I had anything cool or dramatic to write about! :)
