Neck sprain...and my bridal shower is on Saturday

Really?! I have so many other things to think about and take care of but now I have a sprained neck and no car. The lady that hit me admitted to being on methadone. Nice.

Re: Neck sprain...and my bridal shower is on Saturday

  • Thanks everyone. This happened on Tuesday morning. The hospital gave me muscle relaxers, a pain killer and motrin...so I should be good!

Kd - its just the neck mainly. Other than cuts and bruises which don't hurt. And the lady has insurance but my car is worth more than her max payout. So let the fun begin!

What the heck is this "wreck month"? I just got ass ended last week also. I just made sure I took some aleve, and hot showers.

But for insurance purposes (assuming she has any) get checked out.

ETA: I was typing as you were responding.

People must forget how to drive in September. My xrays from the hospital show a curve in my neck (upper spine) from the sprain so I've got that for insurance purposes. How long were you and AllAboutBen in pain? I'm hoping to feel fine by this Saturday for the shower.

  • Renee, that is awful!

About the max payout: When something similar happened to me, my car was only 6 months old and my insurance had a new car replacement clause. So I filed the claim against my insurance and they subrogated against the other driver. His insurance paid the max, and then my insurance sued him personally for the difference, or that's what they told me. Either way, I got full replacement value on my car. It was awesome. Hopefully your insurance can set up a similar arrangement for you.

  • Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear about your neck and car. Hope you feel better in time for your shower!
  • Well yours was a lot worse then mine, I'm sure. I drive a truck so most the damage was to her car. But I saw it coming so I tensed up. I was better in a few days, just some muscle spasms in my back.

I also found the Therma Cares are wonderful for keeping heat on your neck.

  • Sarah - thanks for that info, I will keep that in mind.

Kd - I actually picked some of those up today :)

  • I agree, it must be wreck month. I was in a 4 car rear ending on Friday.

Renee I hope it all works out for you and that you feel lots better soon!

  • Renee- Glad to hear you're ok, but that sucks. And methadone, what? Damn.

Also, SB please be careful. I worry about you all.
  • That sucks, at least the woman had insurance. My sister and her husband got hit a few months ago and my my sister's neck got effed up because of it, she had to go to physical therapy. Now they're in a lawsuit with the guy's insurance because they are claiming it wasn't his fault even though it clearly was (he was in the very right lane on a 4 lane road and tried to take a left turn into an apartment complex accross traffic and thus, hit my sister and her husband) and they have a police report to prove it. Annoying.
  • I did that a couple of years ago! It's a lot of fun, but adding a muscle relaxer would probably make it that much more exciting..

You know what rocks?  Icy Hot.  :)  I smelled like wintergreen lifesavors all week last week.

I did read an article somewhere about a young athlete overdosing and dying from using too much Icy Hot though.  I mean she must have used... a TON of it.  But I always think of that every time I use Icy Hot.

  • Yet another reason to come to Canada, you can get muscle relaxers OTC.

I'm sorry to hear about everyones accidents, I think I might walk home.  I guess that means I should leave now.
