Who has brown hair and a new e-reader?

This girl!!

My argument for early birthday gifts worked and Nathan let me open today!  He got me the Kobo from Borders--anyone have it?  Things I should know about e-readers?

Re: Who has brown hair and a new e-reader?

  • Oooh I was looking at a Kobo powered one today, the LookBook from CVS. Full color screen but that's all I knew about it.

I'm hopefully getting a Nook for Christmas and can't wait!
  • No idea about the Kobo, I only looked at the Kindle/Nook when I was buying mine. Only thing to know: It's awesome. I love having every book with me at all times, and not having to roll over in bed to read on my side. Lol.
  • Yeah, I wasn't sure if I wanted one, even though there were a ton of pros, but i'm so excited!  I love how light this thing is! I can't believe it.
  • I want an e-reader so badly.  yay for you!

Let me know how you like it.  i'm still debating which I'd like. Stupid conflicting info online.

YAY! That's awesome.. I don't have one, don't know nothing about them..
My only thought would be, be careful with the Borders one. Borders isn't doing too hot, business wise..

I think if I were to get one, I would probably get the Amazon one.. Just Amazon will most likely never go under, so I wouldn't need to worry about the e-reader not working, or not being able to get more books..

I want one really bad. My coworker asked me yesterday if I would want one, or a kitty.. I just looked at her..
  • Anna, here's what moved me over to the Nook side

    1) Access to e-books through the library (Kindle doesnt support the file format)
    2) Ability to change my own battery (although they are starting to do that in Staples/Best buy now for Kindle)
    3) I just like the way the Nook feels in my hand for some reason.
  • Hooray!  I go back and forth about wanting one--I'm not sure if I can give up the "feel" of actually having a book in my hands.  Let me know how you like it!
  • Wow, I've never even heard of the Kobo. Definitely try to give an update on it.

I've had a Kindle for almost a year now, and I.Love.It! So much more convenient for traveling. So much easier to get new books. I think you're gonna love it ;)

Does the Kobo have backlighting or is it that magnetic ink stuff (technical term lol)?

  • Same here, KatieW.  I love that I can get books from the library on this one, so I can rent textbooks and library books from home.  No more late fees!

That was my big thing about trying to decide if I wanted to go the e-reader route; I was so used to the feel of a real book that I didn't know if I could switch over. It really only took me about 2 or 3 days before I was totally comfortable with an e-reader.

  • I think, for me, there will always be the difference between a real book and an e-reader but I'm ok with that. Like the difference between keeping my pen/paper diary and my blog. I just want/need one for vacations. It's getting old lugging 20 books to Maine every year. Also the books an are ton cheaper (that I've looked at anyways).

  • I don't think it has backlighting, but I'm just playing with it now.  I love the books it comes with, so I'm excited to start reading!!

Thanks, KD!  I love early birthday :P
  • Happy birthday! H got me a Kindle for my birthday and I love it. It rocks! I bet you'll love having one.
