Good Morning!

Only two days left this week, thankgod.  I'm starting a GM thread, because I obviously missed all the fun last night. jerks.  Why can't the good stuff happen before, oh, 9pm?  I'm an old lady; I can't stay up all night on the internets with you all.

Anyway. It's freaking cold here again, and dry now. I think that means Winter has settled in for the season.  Maybe I'll actually get in the holiday spirit then. I have not purchased one single Christmas gift yet (and I'm usually done before Thanksgiving.)  damn weddings.

It got really cold here overnight. Like, from 70 yesterday to 50 today. I have my heater blanket on because our company insists on blowing cold air all day long.

We are super busy today. I don't know what happened, we're usually so slow around the holidays. But our queue is over 200 so I'm sure we will get lectured by the higherups about how slow we are, even though sales is sending us more business than usual. Such is the cycle. The good news is that they might finally give us overtime.

    Good Morning!

It was only 56F on my drive in to work this morning. I'm loving this chilly weather. It's horrible on the bank account though, because it makes me want to find comfort and warmth by going shopping LOL.

I dreamt last night that they banned Splenda for military members (much like they did with ephedrine about four years ago) and I was freaking out because that's what I drink in my coffee when I have it from time to time.

I think I was just really excited to use my new snoman mug that my boss got each of us for Christmas, haha. I've been having some fucked-up dreams lately, it's been every night this week!

ha. You crazy Floridians.  56 is a freaking HEAT WAVE in December.  I believe it's 10 degrees here right now... which makes the wind chill somewhere close to 0.

Sesh- boo for crappy works; yay for overtime! Any news yet on the possible new job/promotion?

NO. They are taking forever. Yesterday I heard that the bosses were meeting later this week to discuss who they were going to hire, so ideally that should mean they are meeting today to let us know tomorrow. It's so frustrating. I want to know now. But with some recent developments in training involving other people, I honestly don't think my chances are that great anymore.

I was thinking the same thing Steph. I wish it was 56 here. I'm freezing, and there is snow on the ground.

I called into work today. My lovely TOM came yesterday and I feel like crap. So I plan on laying about all day. Need to get DH on the ball so we can get shopping done this weekend.

I forgot to buy eggs at the grocery store lastnight and now I have to eat oatmeal for breakfast until payday :( I just had some and my stomach is absolutely ACHING for some weird reason. I dont want to move it hurts so bad.

I was informed lastnight I have to make Christmas dinner this year. No amount of "its my birthday and I dont know how to make a turkey so I shouldnt have to" got me out of it, so yeah. Im not overly impressed. Who DOESNT like having to cook all day long to feed your family members on your birthday. fucking awesome.

Good morning.  It was 27 this morning on my drive into work.  Sesh, how was it only in the 50s where you are??

Things didn't go as great as we'd hope at H's doctor appointment yesterday.  His numbers were way lower than we (and the doctor) thought they'd be considering he'd been in the hospital.  She said it could have just been an off day but just in case it's the start of something bad she wants to see him sooner than the usual 3 three month check up.  I know this really takes a toll on his emotions and self esteem, I just hope the numbers go back up to where they should be.

Anyway!  I hope you all have a great day!

Wow Nebb that sucks. I dont think I've ever been told I "have" to cook dinner for anyone. And on your b-day to boot. Who came up with this plan? And why did you get voted most likely to cook X-mas dinner?

ETA: sorry to hear about your you DH Shaye. I hope things look better soon, and I'm voting for off day too.

My aunt normally makes the turkey but she is going elsewhere for xmas this year so it was left on my moms shoulders. She decided it was my job and then yelled at me when I said no. I appealed to my other aunt and was told she would help, but I still had to do it.

    :|

I will remember this next year on my moms birthday. She can make ME dinner then.

Morning!  I waaaaay overslept this morning, but I'd say it was worth it.  I was still able to be ready for carpool pickup, so that's what matters.  Also, I'm so loving the carpool lane.  It's magic.

Shay, I'm sorry to hear about your H's numbers. :(  I hope it was just a bad day.

Nebb, um, wow, that's sucky.  Maybe just say "well, if you're putting me in charge of getting a cooked turkey on the table, I'm going to one of those restaurants that cook them for you!!".

Steph, I now have a much better understanding of where Minnesota is after doing my puzzle last night.

We actually had to put up a sign that says that it's a Holiday Tree and NOT a Christmas Tree, ugh.

And it's only going to get worse over the next few weeks, because every day we have something holiday-related planned, with us doing about 2-3 crafty type projects each week (making ornaments, holiday crackers, Santa Clauses, paper snowflake-making, etc). This is just the beginning...

This is hilarious! I cant even imagine having a hedgehog,it sounds very entertaining.I'm sure my cat would not be happy with me if I brought one home, so I'll live vicariously.

When I was married to my first husband we had very little money, but I wanted a tree, so I went to the tree place and a guy had a pitiful tree that had been returned. So I took it home and decorated it with little bulbs, and the tree stand was a cinderblock. It's still my favorite tree t this day.

Holiday tree? That's lame. A guy got all soapbox-y yesterday here at work when someone said Merry Christmas because "I am NOT A CHRISTIAN and I don't appreciate you trying to convert me!" Dude, chill out. He was saying he hopes you have a great holiday, not trying to convert you before you burn in hell.

Shay, sorry to hear about your DH. That's got to be rough. As for the temp, it was effing cold at 6am, probably around 32 or so. I said 50 because I'm guessing that is our high. I really have no idea. All I know is it was 32 at our low.

Haha yup, my boss pointed out that since we're a government organization, that we should keep it "religion-neutral", so that in case anyone walking by sees it, they don't freak out that we have a Christmas tree. Even though that's really what it is, we have to make sure that we don't call it that.

I find that theory utterly ridiculous. If we're going to try to be PC about it, then why do anything for the holidays in the office in the first place? It's not like those of us who do celebrate the holidays ONLY celebrate it at work; we also have decorations up at home too.

But, whatever....my boss outranks me by about 4 pay-grades, so I don't argue with him. I just nod and say "Aye, aye Master Chief" and walk away.

    Good Morning.

I'm just pretty tired as usual. Does anyone use a humidifier in the colder months or even all year round? I think I'm going to get one. The air is so cold and dry at night and I wake up with chapped lips and dry skin. I've hear it works well for better breathing too.

They call it the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane and it's separated from the rest of the highway by a wide double line.  There are spots between exits to get in and out of the HOV lane.  It's $115 and 3 demerit points to either drive in the lane with only 1 person in the car or cross the double lines.  It just opened on Monday and they're cracking down like crazy.  It cuts my drive down by half an hour!

Oh I wish I did, it was 1983, and I dont even think I owned a camera. My dad had sent me $100 for X-mas for a new winter coat. So I found a coat on sale and spent the rest of the money on that little tree, and the small decorations. I felt sorry for it, because a man had bought it, his wife was appaled by it and made him bring it back. My Mom still calls it the Charlie Brown tree. It was cute.

Everything we're doing is called a "holiday" activity rather than "Christmas". For instance, on the 8th, we're having a Holiday Cookie Exchange, even though we all know they're Christmas cookies.

Why not just put a Menorah next to the tree? I mean last night was the first night of Hanukkah. And no note. they do that in my office to make it more Holiday than Christmas.

I'm working from home today, I woke up and the left side of my neck all the way down to the middle of my back was basically one giant knot. So I'm hanging out with my heating pad today. I ran out to get a cup of coffe and muffin and shortly after I got home a police officer rang my bell. Apparently I parked in a hadicap spot which I honestly didn't notice, the lines were white and obviously I didn't look up and see the sign and someone called in my plate. Fortunately since my FI has a plackard he let me off, that and b/c it was pretty obvious from my reaction that I had no idea what I had done - whoops. I feel bad, given that my FI is permentantly disabled from a back injury I would never take a spot from somone on purpose. This is what happens when I leave the house to get coffee and am not awake.

Shay - I hope your H feels better soon!
