... for the company holiday party in December!

FI and I thought we'd be together IRL by then, but the bank is offering him a bonus to stay on through January so I guess I won't see him again until just before the wedding.  *pout*

Our holiday party is a big deal.  We rent out a local sports stadium and bring in celebrity entertainment.  (They aren't always big celebrities, but they're always fun.  Last year we were going to get Big and Rich, but at the last moment our owner decided to go with a Motown theme instead.  Boo.)  We give away hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes, too. Last year, a friend of mine won $16,000 in three separate drawings.  You get your name in the hat once for every year you've been with the company.  She was entered seven times and was drawn at least thrice. 

I'm kind of sad to be going alone this year.  Is it better to go alone and meet up with work friends, or to be the girl with the mystery FI no one at work has ever met (and may not believe exists) who brings her mom to the party? 

I'm just sulking.  Sorry.

I'd go alone. But I'm weird and go everywhere alone. I go to the mall and shop alone, I go to the movies alone, everything.

Our company holiday party consists of us stuffing our faces with darn good food at someone's house.  Fun? Yes. $16,000 kind of fun?  Not exactly.

Sorry you FI won't be there though =(

I'm super jealous, last year I won a fruitcake at our party.  

I would be comfortable going alone, but if it's that much fun, I would probably bring along a friend or mom just to share in the excitement.

I'd go stag or bring a girl friend.  Your party sounds kick ass.

My old company used to do these, minus $100Ks in gifts.  But Wes and I won several iPods.  We got cheesy prom-like pictures taken, and then they had this other photobooth where they photoshopped your head onto celebrity couples' bodies.

It's weird.  I don't have a problem going to restaurants or movies alone -- I actually kind of like it -- but I don't have a lot of friends at work so I'm pretty sure I'll be hanging around on periphery of the department "group" and people-watching again. 

It is a fun party though!     ... Or at least, it seems like it would be fun if you aren't the ridiculously shy quiet girl hiding in the corner.

I'm jelly of your party too. We did have one for our dept a few years ago at Dave & Busters which was super fun, but not prize giveaway crazy fun. Bring friend with you and enjoy it!

Oh, Celles I'm really sorry your bummed about it.  I'd be sad if I couldn't bring Ben to a kickass party.

I still think you should go though.  You'll still have a good time.  Plus everyone will be talking about it for a while at work - you shouldn't miss out on it.

Oh, I'm going!  I'll probably invite my birth mom.  She could use a party -- and I can't invite her to my wedding due to convoluted family drama, so it would be nice to spend the time together.

I'm jealous of your party!  We don't get one.  If we are VERY lucky, we get a holiday lunch.  Last year even that didn't happen.
