[QUOTE]Morning all. I made it to the gym this morning, and I got my new (to me) Scion XB last night. I'm uber excited about it. This is the nicest car I've ever owned. On the weird side, my internet/keyboard/computer would only type in Russian characters this morning, which was weird. It did it on here and on Gmail. I don't know why or how, but it's fixed now. I would have been seriously bored all day if I couldn't even Knot while at work. I highly doubt anyone would have been happy if all of my posts showed up in Russian.

    Yay for new cars! Congratulations!
I want a new car soon, but with the wedding and stuff I'm not sure that will happen for another 1-2 years. Bleh.

Thanks Crash. I have been looking for a while and finally found one I liked, and in my price range. I should have put it off until after our wedding in June, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on it.

Funny thing is, FI thinks he will be "tricking it out" I don't think so.

    Good morning.

Sorry to all of you who arent feeling to well this morning. It sounds like there are a lot of crappy problems out there today.

I have the day of but I almost forgot that I have a mandatory alcohol class through the city for my work. Boring.

So to all of those weight lifters/exercisers out there: How do you feel about circuit training as opposed to straight weight lifting for weight loss?

Mornings suck.  Woke up to about an inch of snow, just enough to screw up traffic and make life miserable.  But, my amazing FI cleaned my car off for me.  I loves him!

All you ladies talking about NROL4W make me want to go out to go buy it.  You inspire me.  Especially since I can see the results that y'all are throwing out there.  You look great!  It's a little late to see results by my weding day, but this is something that I should be doing for me.

    Have a good Thursday all!

Depends on what you mean by circuit training. If you mean going to Curves, then it pales in comparison to lifting. If you mean a circuit cross-training class where you go from a cardio move to a lifting move every so often (Like CrossFit, hard stuff), then those are great. Intervals are great things for burning fat and increasing your metabolism.

I have re started my Jillian Michaels DVDs and I am sweating in the first couple minutes and can definetely feel lit the next day. I dont know if anyone here has good experiences with her workouts.

I dont have a gym membership right now and dont have any equipment at home. So I mostly do DVDs and run outside.

Ok, thanks for the reccomendation. I usually do her No More Trouble Zones, but if im looking for a quick workout I do the 30DS. I have just never had a desire to do straight weight training so I really dont know the benefits of it.

Ditto this.  In the heirarchy of fat loss, free weights are king, followed by high intensity intervals, then lower intensity intervals, then steady state cardio.  That being said, something is always better than nothing!

The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn sitting still. It takes more energy to maintain a pound of muscle than to maintain a pound of fat. By building muscle, you increase your resting metabolic rate.<div>
</div><div>There are 2 basic types of muscle fiber, though, fast twitch and slow twitch. I know they have more scientific names, but those help me remember better what they do. To have well rounded muscle development that makes you look toned and have a lower body fat percentage, you have to work both types of muscle. Running works your fast twich muscles and lifting works the slow twitch ones. The fastest, most efficient runners also lift weights because it makes them less prone to running injuries. It works the muscle fibers that they don't work while running, and lowers their overall body fat percentage and helps them maintain a good body weight. </div><div>
</div><div>Part of NROL and NROL4W is cardio. There is a component that makes you get your HR up before every lifting workout, and there are rest intervals prescribed that create sort of an interval workout with the lifting workout. Your HR goes up during your set, then you rest before the next set. The closer your sets are, the higher your HR is for the whole set. </div><div>The whole premise of it is that you have to challenge yourself and continually break down muscle fiber and let it rest to recover in order to build muscle. I promise that NROL won't make you look like a body builder, but you will feel like one. </div>

Steph...what does the role entail. Do you like verbal harassment or gentle reminders? I can do both.

Bkseller, from what I've read, people don't like the ebook version because the pages numbers and such aren't the same.  When they list a program is tells what page the exercise is one in the hardcopy, but it's not linked (or wasn't linked) in the e-book.  They may have changed it, but I don't know.  I lvoe my paper copy.  It's tabbed and beaten to poop.

    Steph, I like yelling.

H is trying with the gentle reminders... it's not working too well.

Here's my current list of excuses:
If I REALLY lose a lot of weight (which is what I need to do), then I'll have to buy new clothes, and we can't afford that.
I don't want to join a gym if we're moving in 2 months anyway.  I really don't want to pay two joiner's fees.

Sarah- I actually HAVE the NROWL4W (holy crap, that's a long acronym) book.  BUT I will take spreadsheets if it makes it easier to follow!

Another sad confession- H has free weights. in our apartment. I have no excuse to not be working out more.  ALTHOUGH, I have been going for a nice long walk/jog with the dog almost daily.  Which is more than I could say 4 months ago.

As my DH says  as long as you are moving you are doing something.

And I just had this conversation with a CW, I have no motivation. I'm thinking my motivation right now would be to fit in my clothes better, and I would like to do a TTD session, but I know I dont fit in my gown.
