Snarky Brides

Pet Question, and me being a downer.

Have any of you had a dog with hip dysplasia?

Jessie went in for knee surgery a few weeks ago. Turns out it isn't her knee. She has "terrible, terrible" hip dysplasia. She is only two and she already has arthritis in both hips. She is limping on her back left leg horribly. I saw her x-rays, and even with no medical knowledge, it looks awful.

I freaked out that morning. I had brought her to the vet previously worried about this. They told me she needed to lose weight, but that she was okay. This issue just gets progressively worse; she won't get better. We can't run or play anymore, and it is evident that she is having some pain. And I will not get her certified now. I can't expect her to work, that's not fair to her at all.

Jessie is simply our family pet. We got her as a puppy, and she's our baby. My other 3 animals have special needs, and I am mentally prepared for those. But Jess is a mutt. She is NOT supposed to have this issue! What the fuuck are the odds?

So, what can I do to help her? She wants to play, and is destroying stuff because she is frustrated. I'm doing fish oil and a joint pill. Anything else? Or just tell me how you don't break down and cry when your puppy limps and can't get up?
