Snow boot ideas

My snow boot purchasing technique has always been to get cheap snow boots from target that last a year before I chuck them. I thinking I may need more substantial boots as I am now a grown up. I need snow boots that i can treat with weather resistant spray that cover at least my ankles. My fellow snow dwellers, what say you?

Re: Snow boot ideas

  • Well I know there are some anti-UGG people here. But DH bought me a pair that go up to my knees for Christmas last year. I love them, they are warm and I wear them to work then change into my regular shoes when I get here.

I love the fact that if I get stuck or something my feet are protected. And when the snow gets deep I can wade through it.

Show us what you're looking at.

  • Are real uggs better than fake ones? I have high arches and insteps, so I find fake uggs somewhat hard to put on.

  • I know they're better for support and all that, but are they easier to put on?

  • Mine have a tie up the side. They can be a little troublesome to get off, but not on. Let me see if I can find them for you.

Real Uggs are no good in snow. Especially if it gets wet-ish. Water goes right through, especially at the seams.

I usually wear my snowboard boots to shovel snow. Mayhap it's time to get some real snow boots!

  • I invested in a good pair of Spyder snowboard boots, they're pricey but IMO totally worth it if you get as much snow as we do. Plus I've had them for 3yrs now and they're still in great shape.

I cant find my exact boot, it may have been that seasons. But they look like these just they tie all the way up the side.
I suck. I am an UGG/rainboot wearer in the snow. Sometimes I wear heels. Most of the time I stay home and thank God we still rent, so my super is stuck hiring people to shovel rather than me shoveling. I dread that part of home-ownership.

Thats funny I sealed mine and I didnt have any issues. But I have a different pair for my snow shoes. UGGs dont work with snow shoes.

  • Hmm, maybe I skipped the sealing step. I was in university.... Now they're practically ruined. Sad face.

We made the silly mistake of buying a house on a corner. Gah. I think we have 150 linear feet of sidewalk to shovel.

HA! Me too, with a honking big snowblower! My big fear is he will be out of town one week when a big storm rolls in, and I will ahve to operate that thing. I'm afraid he will come home to red snow, and no wife.

I had to clear snow once last year due to H being out of town. i got about 5 feet done before the big hulking neighbor ran over to tell me to stop and that he'd do our sidewalk when he did his.

cuz I'm just a lil' ol girl :) I'll take it.

edit: and one day I'll have children so i don't have to do the dishes.
Hehe. My mom has a snowblower, too, but that is hard work! I feel bad because we live too far to drive up there in the snow and clear her driveway and she likes to shovel while it's coming down so she's not stuck with five feet of snow to clear. I have to figure out a system to help her.
    Posted by NatesGirl16
We are actually looking into a sevice for MIL for Christmas. She got stuck in her driveaway 3 times last year at 3am (she works nights),but we live 3 hours away. So we may just hire a plow truck. She's almost 80 we dont want her out shoveling anything.

  • That's a good idea KD. Mom gets really nervous in the snow about whether she'll be able to get out or not. Plus, shoveling is hard work, but she lives up a freaking mountain so we can't get to her (not to mention I refuse to drive in the snow). I'll look into it.

BTW- How are you my lovely, I feel like I havent talked to you in ages. I have been trying to be a good wife, cooking dinner every night and also getting back on my work-out plan. I've been off the wagon for awhile, and my clothes arent looking so good right now. DH is in his busy time, so I'm trying to make sure he doesnt worry about anything when he gets home.
I've been missing you, obviously! I'm good--I'm online a lot at night because FI's hours were increased at work and he's not getting home until 7:30 or 8 every night. So I'm online knotting while doing grad work or grading stuff. He's glad for the overtime, but he's so exhausted, so it sucks. What about you? When does H leave for his next trip?
    Posted by NatesGirl16
Yeah thats why I'm not on at nights much right now. By the time I get home (6pm), exercise(I refuse to get up early to do this), and cook dinner. DH is home around 7:30-8pm, we eat dinner and go to bed. We were actually in bed at 9:30 last night.

My DH's typical day is leave for work by 5am, home at 7:30-8pm. And he leaves for Florida on Sunday.
