Sounds like fun though! I love decorating for the holidays.

FI HATES Christmas. :( I don't know why. He just doesn't like it. And I LOVE it. I love the smells, and the lights. But I just kind of downplayed it.

He let me have a fake tree last year but it was 12 in. high, and not much to look at.

But we were talking the other night, and I told him how much it would mean to me to be able to get a tree, and lights and stuff, and he said as long as I clean up (vacuum) under the tree, he doesn't care. As long as it makes me happy. :)

Random. I'm going to have to stick to Target, and dollar store stuff this year. I don't really like themed decor. My grandmother used to do an all silver tree one year, an all gold one the next. It was just a little weird.

My H was the same way, but over the years he's lightened up.  Although I still think he's a major scrooge about Christmas, i think he's starting to actually enjoy it a tiny bit just because he gets a kick out of how happy it makes me.  But i don't back down when i want something.  Especially if there isn't a good excuse not to.
  • Well that's nice of him to let you do something that makes you so happy. So he hates Christmas? Since you don't know why, I will just have to imagine it's like Chandler hating Thanksgiving. That makes it a little funnier. :)

  • Yay! Have fun! We just bought our tree yesterday. We have to get fake b/c DH is allergic, but I got a 7.5' prelit slim tree that is amazing, and it was 50% off at Hobby Lobby.

The fun part was getting it to fit into my civic coupe. : |

Haha. He hates capitalism, and he says Christmas is the epitome of it.

And I'm going to backtrack a little. He lets me do SOME stuff for Christmas, because he knows it makes me happy. It's not like he refused to have anything Christmas related in the house. He has always said no trees though.

But since he really doesn't like it, it kind of takes away from the whole experience you know? So after the first year, I just kind of stopped doing stuff. We had the fake tree last year, and he got excited about buying me presents, because he loves surprising me. He's a lot more creative than I am too, so his presents to me are always awesome, and really thought out, and mine are like "Oh, here's a pair of shoes and a giftcard! Merry Christmas." Lol.

We're going to get a small Charlie Brown tree this year, cuz I like the idea of having one that no one else wants. And he likes it, because it's not as much of a waste of money.. Haha.
  • yay!! have fun shopping and decorating!

Haha, I'm probably going to have to walk mine home. THAT should be interesting.
  • I went to the dollar tree last year and decorated my work totally snow themed with a bunch of silver snowflake garlands, it looked pretty awesome actually. My work is super dreary with no windows and about 20 people in a 15x15 room so I was desperate for a little holiday cheer.

I'm probably going to do that too. Random lights in the windows and stuff. Haha.
I'll have to check out the 4 dollar stores we have in the area. Everythings different.
  • And if you don't have many ornaments, just buy a couple boxes of candy canes.

<div>H isn't a Scrooge, but we don't have a car and there are never any lots near us! We always walk home a tiny tree, sometimes we find a bum cart to push it in on the way. </div>

  • Cupcakes- what is your favorite thing your husband makes for work? Favorite thing at home?

  • It is awesome! :)

God, that's a really hard question. He's amazing at everything.

Work: At his old restaurant, he made this incredible Alfredo with a nutty, roasted garlic flavor.. They also had a wood burning pizza oven, and the pizza we're amazing.

Home: Pounded flank steak Roulade with Goat Cheese, dried cherries and caramelized onions in red wine, with fennel.
He's making this for me for my birthday in less than two weeks, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. :)
  • I make really good coffee. Hahaha.

Umm, I would say my cupcakes are pretty amazing. I'm mostly a baker, so I bake a lot.

But I LOVE this "pizza" that I make. Portobello mushrooms, scooped out with balsamic vinegar, fresh mozz, and pepperoni in it, baked..
  • Hahaha, you sound like me. I don't cook at all (H is just teaching me now), I bake once in a while. I love making pies from scratch with lattice tops, it is my go-to for potlucks, people are always impressed.

He's teaching me too. But I'm not very patient. And I hate knives, so, I'm just a bad chef.

<div>YES. I swear 50% of my knife lessons are getting over the my fear of knives (especially H's super sharp Shuns!). And it's an ironic because the less confident you are the more likely you are to cut yourself. I just have to listen to H. 3 years of cutting at least 6 hours a day, he has never cut himself (can't say the same for his idiotic co-workers).</div>

[QUOTE]Where in Nor Cal are you?  I'm in Folsom so I have access to pinecones of all sizes.  I do a lot with those.  I spray glue them and then roll in glitter for very inexpensive ornaments.

Sonoma County.. I could totally do that.
