Dinner disaster

Don't try to make soba noodles or peanut sauce if you have no idea what you're doing.  It will end up a gross clump of weird and you'll have to get take out.

Tell me cooking disaster stories so I feel better.

Re: Dinner disaster

  • When I first started seeing my now ex-husband, he tried to persuade me that I should do all the cooking, because he did not know how to cook.  I wasn't having any of that foolishness, and insisted he cook every other night.

One night, he attempted to make fried rice.  He was supposed to scramble eggs and then add rice.  Instead, he threw in the eggs and the rice and tried to cook them together.  Of course, it ended up as a huge ball of rice glued together by egg.

When I ate it anyway and did not complain, he realized he wasn't going to get me to do all the cooking by being incompetent, and had better learn to cook if he wanted to eat.

So, think of it this way:  There may be some positives to cooking disasters.
