Snarky Brides

This pisses me off!

Although it hasn't been routinely followed as an ideal in this country for a long while, politicians are supposed to be for the people, by the people and treeated in the same manner. They are not supposed to be given special treatment.

John Boehner doesn't have to go through any of the TSA searches we discussed earlier today. And why? Because he's John Boehner. I think that is ridiculous.

I don't care whether you're a liberal or conservative or a mother-effing terrorist, everyone should have to do this. You are not special and you shouldn't get to bypass security measure just because you were elected to office while the rest of us are subjected to it.

And is it just me that still reads his last name as "Boner". Haha. I'm 12.

  • Is it bad that I have no idea who he is?

  • Well, I look 12. Might as well think like one too! I read it a Boner.

I don't fly much. I've actually flown 2 times in my 24 years, but I think that everyone should have to follow the same rules. Especially when it comes to international safety. I agree that I don't care who you are or who yo momma is, rules are rules.

It is true that pit bulls grab and hold on. But what they most
often grab and refuse to let go of is your heart

  • I'd be more worried that someone who LOOKS like Jon Boehner, or a person with similar status, would be able to get through security easier that way.  With a bomb.

Isn't he the presumed new speaker of the House, taking over Pelosi's spot?
  • I totally agree, I do not care whom you are or how famous you are, whether your flying coach, first class, or on your damned private jet, rules are rules! and BTW I thought it was Boner too! HAHAHA

  • If i have to get out of a darn wheelchair to be searched properly, then everyone should have to be searched.
  • John Boehner is a house representative for Ohio. And yes he is presumably going to take over for Pelosi.

    Anna - I haven't been around very long. You're in a wheelchair? Why? I didn't know this.

Wait, what?  I don't remember you being in a wheelchair, what happened?
  • Funny airport security story: When my older sister was 2 and I was a baby, we flew to see my grandparents. My sister was in a stroller, but for some reason she kept one leg sticking straight out the whole time. My mom didn't think anything of it until they went through security. The security guard made her get our of the stroller and walk around, and she walked with a stiff leg, so they patted her down. A 2 year old, in the late 70s. My dad (ex Secret Service) thought it was hilarious. My mom was mortified. Story of their lives together.

  • The airport undercover folks bypass security, because they are packing weapons - they'd set off the alarms, and how would security explain that?

I got pulled over to the side last time we flew (and will again this time) because my knee brace sets off the alarm. I've also had my bags searched; a portfolio (the kind you put a writing pad in) had a metal rod in the spine.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • FI and I have weird experiences when we visit his parents in Ft. Lauderdale. They have a machine that blows air at you and then analyzes the air for explosive particles. I don't suggest going through that line with a short skirt. We've also ad our bags swabbed and then analyzed in a machine. Weird.

I'm good.  It's just at airports.  I had knee injuries ages ago that were pretty much fixed by surgery.  unfortunately, pressure builds in my left knee whenever I fly or dive.  It takes hours before I can walk and sometimes days before i can loose the limp.  The wheelchair just makes it all easier usually
  • Also, is the Gawker actually considered a reliable news source? I'm thinking it's more gossip and media, especially considering the slant of the headlines - John Travolta's sex life, etc.

Well they pretty much cite every story they blog about.
  • Well, at least he’s flying commercial; Ms. Pelosi used her private military jet, which costs a fortune!
