[QUOTE]I loved the parade since it was in a town that allowed drinking on their square. The mimosas stopped me from screaming at the annoying children. <strong>There was a Zumba class in the parade.</strong> Funniest thing ever.

  • One that everyone is talking about - I hate bad parents.  I'm not a parent - but I garuntee I'll be a better one than you when I am!!!

An unpatriotic one... I judge people who are all like "'Merica is the BEST country in the world!!!"  But they've never even BEEN outside the US.  Freaking noobs!

Completely unpop - I judge women who are like "genetics make me fat I can't lose weight." Look you dumb-butt... I'm a former fat kid myself (lost 40lbs), hell my parents are both overweight/ obese and have type 2 diabetes, and you have a choice.  Stop eating crap and get your lazy butt to the gym.  If you spent half as much time doing something about being fat as complainging about it you'd be thin.

SOOOO TOTALLY UNPOP - I hate dumb people... there are just so many of them out there.  IQ is a normal standard distribution curve.  That means that 50% of the people you run into on a daily basis are DUMBER than average!

Hey, trick. Eat a diick, how about that. Judging people because you don't believe them is bullshit.

I think the bolded is extremely harsh.  There ARE people who have genetic reasons for their weight issues who do go to the gym and count calories daily.

<div>On the overweight thing, I am totally with you on that one. My mom is obese and I love her to death, she's my favorite person. But she's given up trying to lose weight and it's so frustrating that just changing her diet could improve her quality of life but she doesn't care any more. "She's accepted it". She's verging on diabetes, has high blood pressure, and arthritus so she can't exercise much. It's painful to watch. And it's made me hyper aware of my own size because I know it's in my genetics to be overweight. I am not a big person but if my pants stop fitting I go on a mini crash diet out of panic. It's just not a good situation in general.</div><div>

  • There are things other than genetics which make it very difficult to lose weight. I'd like you to tell my uncle he's a fat-ass. After being hit by a car while cycling, he needed both knees and both hips replaced. He swims and walks now, and he definitely watches what he eats, but he's overweight and borderline obese.

    I don't like you.

First- you said that 6% of the population has a pre-disposition to being overweight, but NOT obese.

Then you post articles about how they did some testing on OBESE (not overweight, mind you) people and 6% of those tested have the marker.

Then you post something about how it's actually 10% of the population that they can currently prove to have the marker.

None of your facts match up.

<div>Because none of the studies completely match up.  Statistical sampling errors happen even in large control groups when trying to create projections for an entire population of people.  End of the day, whether its 6% on the low end or 10% on the high end, its not the 30%+ of Americans that are overweight or obese.  Further, we would expect these markers to be common accross geographic regions, but other geographic populations of people don't have NEAR the overweight and obesity rate of the USA... so the general unhealthiness of our population is NOT genetics.</div>

To an extent, this is true. But to make a blanket statement like you have done comes across as very condescending. You were also the person who said on another board that low intensity exercise is a waste of time and everyone should be doing HIIT (high intensity interval training), which is just about the worst thing someone new to working out can do. Instead of encouraging people to live healthier lifestyles, you pull out the data that supports your limited view and then judge anyone who isn't able to do what you think she should be doing.

I have been to other countries. I've had a lot of opportunities that other people haven't. That doesn't make me smarter, it just makes me lucky.

I have a respectable IQ, and have spent a lot of time and effort to get an education. I have little tolerance for people who chose not to take advantage of opportunities presented to them, so I kind of get where you're coming from with that, but your tone and approach are preachy and rather obnoxious.

Funny. I'd be more inclined to judge someone who can't spell, because well... hey dumb-butt, go read a dictionary and LEARN HOW TO SPELL. you have a choice. I don't believe you when you say you just can't do it.
  • Annie- Please come around more often. You are so well-spoken and get your point across quite nicely. :)
  • I'm not going to defend the weight thing any longer.  I feel I'm qualified to make that statement, research is supportive of it, and my own personal experiences do as well.  If it touched a nerve with you, then it did and I can't control that...

Am I a Pain in the Butt, yeah, probably.  Am I blunt, yup, no doubt there.  This was a post about unpop opinions, those are mine.  If you don't like it, well tough... I was honest about my own unpopular beliefs and annoyances.

But all of my unpop opinions center around people who fail to take ownership and accountability for their lives, their parenting style, their narrow-mindedness, etc.  Being able to travel IS a gift, but if you're not afforded that gift don't make claims that we live in the best country in the world, because you've never BEEN anywhere else to be capable of making that comparison.  If you need to live a healthier lifestyle, don't blame it on genetics or your thyroid and then complain about your lot in life.  If you think thats what it is goto a doctor, get tested, and then talk about treatment options.  I was making the assertion that based on research this excuse is not true for the vast majority of cases.  But if it is, there are good treatment options these days that can help. In terms of intelligence, IQ is a normal standard distribution curve... that is scientifically how it's defined and measured both in populations and individuals.  And I don't think there is ANYONE on this board who hasn't run into someone out in their daily lives who hasn't annoyed them in that regard.

  • I judge all the hipsters I saw yesterday wearing ironic patriotic t-shirts. One guy had a Bush/Nader '84 t-shirt on. Really?

  • You're right. They're your personal opinions, and you have the right to be as idiotic as you'd like. Just like everyone here has the right to call you on being so moronic.

and, for the record- I think the people that annoy me the most on a daily basis are the arrogant assholes who probably fall above the 50%tile IQ-wise. Intelligence most certainly does not guarantee common sense.
