I just read your answer to the poll where you said that you like donations.  You are maybe the second person I have ever heard this from.

I like them too and I was totally against doing favours but as we get closer to the wedding I am worried that my guests will be pissed (hence the mints favor question in the poll last night).

We are doing donations either way, (two of them, equal amount)...one to the Canadian Cancer Society (in honour of my mom and other family members who have dealt with or are dealing with Cancer) and one to support the elderly people who live in the community in St. Lucia where FI and I do volunteer work during the summer...

So here is my question: are you a proponent of mentioning the donation or not mentioning it at all? I feel weird not mentioning if we don't do a favor but some people say it is wrong to mention it...

I think your favor donations sound great, especially considering your family's history. Personally, I'd rather see that as my favor than some picture frame I'll never use or a bag of mints I'll never eat. At least the money is going to something useful.

I chose the table markers (like for names, why can't I ever remember what those things are called)...they are kinda awkward because you have to flip them open to see your name but we figured out how to use them and still make it work...I am just trying to figure out if we are going to write a note in them or just leave them as place markers...either way the donations are being made, that one is already done and the other one will be done soon. </div>

If you are going to do a donation, I think the way M&M did it is the right way to go.

Im not a fan of donations as favors.  I donate to charity all the time so I dont need you to do it for me, but if you are going to do them, I would rather see it on the guest book table etc, then on every plate in my face all night.
