Snarky Brides

Good Morning!

H and I just planned out which week we're taking off of work this summer for our vacation.  I'm stoke to be asking for a week off :)  I didn't use my vacation time at all last year so I'm definitely using it this year.

One of my coworkers just got back from Poland.  He brought me back a bag of chocolate covered plums, which sounds delicious, so I think I just figured out what I'm having for lunch.

Oh and when I get home from work tonight my Chicken Tortilla Soup will be ready to eat.  Crock pots are a gift from god.

How is everyone doing this morning?

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I love crock pots!

I'm doing okay. I hate work today. People piss me off. And I was up late last night with Ben. He watched River Monsters with Matt and the fish ended up dying at the end of the show. He was devastated. He was crying like that girl in the Justin Beiber youtube video. He was just so sad about it. It was pitiful. No more River Monsters for Ben.

I wish I had a plausible reason to leave work early and not go to see my trainer tonight. Thats how I am this morning.
  • Goooooood morning!

Where are you going on vacay, Betrothed?

    River Monsters does sound traumatizing.

I was just sitting here thinking about vacation too...only a couple more weeks...are you going anywhere for vacation?

  • I'm eating yogurt with a freakin fork. That's how I am this morning.
  • We're going to hit up the local amusement parks for a couple of days and then we'll either do a wine tour or go to a few breweries.  H really wants to stay home but I told him I'd like to get out and do something if I'm taking off a whole week.

  • Morning!  Chocolate covered prunes sound... interesting.  Though the Polish put prunes in pirogies, so why not cover them in chocolate, too?
  • I ate yogurt with a plastic knife before. Yogurt without a spoon sucks.

  • Lol Bec.

Morning ladies!  At work, once again.  It's pouring here, which is a nice change from 95 degree weather.
  • I'm better this morning. They let me go home early yesterday so I had some "me time" and am a little more refreshed today. But I came into work only to discover that they got rid of my Microsoft Word program in order to force me to use OpenOffice as a trial for the company. I HATE this new program, can't use any of my old macros, so I'm a little pissy.

Chocolate-covered plums sound gross. My stepdad's brother's wife is from Poland and the first tome we met her she brought us some Polish cookies. They were one of the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten, so I think I'm scarred on Polish food.

  • I love crock pots. You've inspired me to use it for the first time since we moved. That soup sounds divine....

DH is off today so we're thinking about doing some yard work and cleaning out the garage. Maybe go to the beach later. I'm also still looking for a job as much as I can... I found some good leads, but I'm wary about them. We'll see...

I love that show! I've only seen it once (the one about the huge fish that apparently has been tipping over boats in the river and eating those that fall into the water?) but I understand it's a series. When I first heard that, I was like, "How many river monsters could there be?"

Yeah. Apparently, there are fucking tons of them. It's on almost every night, I think. It's Matt's favorite show. The worst one was the one about the fish that swam up a man's penis and got stuck there for days. That one gave me nightmares and I don't even have a penis.
  • I don't have a crock pot. Now I wonder if I need one.

I'm in a foul mood today. This week has already shiit on me, and I want it over now.

I'm sorry. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" /> I hate weeks like that. What are your plans for this weekend? You should just focus on that until you wake up and it's Friday.

As far as crock pots, I wish I knew some healthy recipes to use with it. Soups and stews are pretty much the only thing I don't feel awful about making in them, but I have a crock pot recipe book and everything in it reminds me of really fattening things my gramma (we call her Bama Gramma) used to make: bacon with fat juice and fattening sauce cooked slowly over a fat steak. Not really, but something like that...

You absolutely need one.  It's so nice to come home from a long day of work to have dinner already made, and a house smelling divine.  If you get one I have recipes I could give you ;)

I hope your week gets better.  It makes me sad when you're not happy.

  • Hi pretties! Betrothed, that's aweseome about your upcoming vacation and I also want some of your soup for dinner, thanks.

Yogurt with a fork made me giggle, but that sucks Bec. :( I would probably get to the point of crushing the cup with my bare hands, Hulk-style, and squeezing the yogurt out in my hungry rage. Just in case you needed another option.

I got a recipe book from my mom that's nothing but Crock Pot recipes...it's a lifesaver some days!  I'm jumping on the "crock pots rule" bandwagon.

ETA: It's called Fix It and Forget It I believe, in case anyone wanted to know.
  • Beatles-crushing the canister never works.  You end up with 1/4 of the yogurt stuck in the bottom of the canister.  If you have a long tongue you can lick that out, though.

Shannon- When I'm looking for actual recipes I Google them, but I just kind of figured a lot of stuff out.  I also will take a normal stove top recipe and alter it a bit so it will work in my crock pot.

If this soup recipe is any good I'll make the changes to the recipe I used and post it on my Blog.  I'll let you ladies know if I do that.  It's supposed to taste just like Red Robin's Chicken Tortilla Soup.

We're having tortilla soup too tonight! Hey soul sister!

  • Aw, thanks girls. I'm fine, just a little beat down and it's only Tuesday! This is the WORST week all year at my job. Combined with the surprise house showing, snake in my foyer and teenage asshole in my life, I'm just stressed and crabby. I'll be fine! I just keep focusing on how temporary everything in my life is right now and repeating "This too shall pass!" to myself. And it will. :)

Manda graduates Saturday, and I'm having brunch for 30 at my house that morning, so I am not looking forward to it at all. I wish she was still 5 and sweet and not leaving me. Even if she is an asshole.

HOWEVER, in just 40 short days I'll be in Disney World for a week, so all is not lost! I just have to keep that in sight!
