WR Vent

I just needed to vent fo a second about the cake for my wedding. I know I am still 5 months out but I have been waiting for this local deal that comes around only a few times a year for a $99 wedding cake that serves 100 people. Well lucky me the owners are getting divorced and are shutting down the bakery's!! I'm pissed because I just got tickets to go to the show to book the cake and the website still had the bakery listed as a vendor! Great now I have to re-budget for another cake! I feel awful for the girls who are out the money and still get no cake! What a$$holes!

This is a big enough deal to warrant 5 exclamation points?  It sounds like you should be grateful you won't be screwed.

Did you lose any money from them closing? If not, I don't see why you're so upset. They didn't get divorced just to spite you. It's just a cake, you can find other bakeries that don't cost a fortune.

I would be pissed if they took my money, but from the article it sounds like the guy is trying to figure things out while the wife is the one that took off. So they're not both a-holes.

I can understand your frustration after spending $500 on cupcakes but you are still 5 months out. Search for some other bakeries and you might find some deals. Good luck!

Sorry I didn't mention my friend lost money on this deal. She called me crying this morning and I was so worked up about it I needed to vent.

I think your underpants may be on too tight. There's no reason to get this upset about cake.

You can get your cake at Costco for $100 and it will be delicious.  Just sayin.

I'm not sure that I understand why you are so upset.  Doesn't sound like you lost money, and even if you did, it's $100 not $1000.

If you are trying to keep your cake cost down, I would suggest that you order a wedding cake for 50 people, and order a sheet cake from a local grocery store.  If your venue is cutting your cake, they do that in the back.  Your guests would never see the sheet cake, and a lot of people won't eat cake anyway.

Sounds like they should have stopped offering 100-serving cakes for $99, would  have had more money and stayed in business lol.

I'd just use the bridal show tickets that you already paid for and see if any bakers are offering discounts for booking at the show.  Plus you'll get to try cake from a bunch of different vendors, which is always a bonus.

If the family friend who made my cake had gotten divorced, I would be sad for her and her family.  Cakes are replaceable, a divorce is a life changing event.
