1pm ish Reception Food ideas? Also need opin's for actual Reception Length

Simple breakdown:
Ceremony start 11:30am On a summer saturday.

Reception starts 12:30pm (we would probably be able to get everyone to the reception locationthere by then)

I actually haven't located a venue yet for the reception, mainly because I keep finding ones that require us to end at 3pm. (Is a 12:30 to 3pm okay? All the receptions I've been to have lasted 3 to 5 hours, granted they were at night, but still !!! I feel liek I'm cutting the celebration too short.) PLUS all the beautiful places I've found will not allow outside vendors...I really want to represent my filipino heritage by having lots of awesoem food :[ ...

I've racked up a headache trying to search for ideas on how much to serve and what kinds of foods.  12:30 - 1pm seems too late for lunch, and I will also assume my guests will have breakfast shortly before arriving to the ceremony. There are also the people who don't eat breakfast, and would be expecting a nicely proportion'd brunch type of serving.

1pm is about when we'd start serving the meal.

Is a big...lunch serving too much? big meaning...perhaps 3 or 4 courses.  I was also thinking of offering hot/cold teas during this time as well.

I really have no idea, I've never been to an afternoon wedding in america before. In the 'pines, no matter what time the occassion, there's always ALWAYS a $%@* ton of food, and certainly not as expensive.

Hmm I see your problem- we are running into the same things since he is half Laotian and I am half Korean. We settled on having a rehearsal dinner with heritage foods ( I had no better way to say that).

So an idea- Rehearsal dinner Filipino food

Venue- caterer and you can do either lunch buffet with teas or brunch foods. Also work with your venue to see what they can make.

I'm confused. In California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Hawaii, Virginia, and Washington, DC (all places I've spent significant amounts of time) lunch is around 11am to 1pm. Add Idaho and Montana to the list. Utah and Arizona, too. This time period is correct for a very traditional "wedding breakfast," which may be brunch-type foods or luncheon-type foods.

A 2.5 hour reception is fine if you keep things moving - limit toasts, only have duty-dances, etc.
