Surprise Groom's Cake!

I've decided to surprise my fiance with a groom's cake on the wedding day: a basketball with his favorite college team, the UNC Tar Heels', logo on top in their sky blue color. I'm so excited but don't want to tell a lot of people we know for fear he'll find out so I thought I'd come post it here :) I know he'll love it, I hate that I have to wait so long to see his face when they roll it out to him.

    YAY! I'm surprising my FI with one at the RD. He loves guitars and baseballs so I'm making one in the shape of a guitar, but with a baseball design. If that makes sense. Lol.

    I'm surprising my FI with one, too! I think he may know he will have one at the wedding, but I'm not sure. His SIL is a cake baker/designer and will be making our wedding cake. So, she and I are going to design something for his groom's cake! Exciting!

    stefwhitney: That sounds really unique, so the shape of a guitar but it's white with red stitches? Am I picturing that right?

    Thanks, cmp! I am really excited, I only wish I hadn't come up with this so early, I'm not very good at keeping secrets from him and he wants to be completely surprised by my dress, too :)

    I'm surprising my fiance with one on our wedding day also!  He's really into motorcross so I'm having our cake person do a Monster Energy/Fox Racing cake!  She's thinking a Monster Energy can that features the Fox Racing logo.  I'm so pumped!  Can't wait to see it!

    I'm doing the same thing!  I'm going to get one for my FI to give him at the RD and I'm like you guys - so excited that I thought of it, but am itching to tell someone :)

    His favorite beer is Dos Equis (he even made sure to write that into our bartending contract) so I'm going to get a cake made to look like a bottle of Dos Equis. The only problem is the cake flavor. I don't know what kind to get and when I try to get it out of him what he would want, I can't get an answer!!  Our cake for the wedding is two flavors and he always says he likes them both!

    Oh, another problem I'm having is we're already sharing checking accounts and credit cards... gotta figure out a way to pay for it without him seeing :)

    If I were you I'd start taking out cash a little bit at a time and keeping it elsewhere to pay for it.  That's what I'm going to do.  My fiance and I don't have joint checking yet, but where we already live together and split bills, we both pretty much know what each other has in the bank, so I can't write a check or take it all out at once or he'd know something was up lol.
