I don't know much aboutthis area myself, but I will ask my sister who lives in Grand Prairie. When she was looking for houses we used this site to find out a little more about the area other then just observation. http://www.movoto.com/neighborhood/tx/grand-prairie/75051.HTML I will let you know what I find out, she lives in 75050 area code.

I lived in a reeaaally nice apartment by the golf course over there in 75050 and was robbed less than 3 months after I moved in. Not sure actually how far away that is from 75051, but yeah.  From my own personal experience, I would steer clear of the whole area.

I haven't heard many good things coming out of that whole area to be honest.

Ditto, Mariah.  From a teacher stand point, if you are going to stay in that area to have kids, 23 of the 30ish campuses are TEA Acceptable including both of the high schools and several of the middle schools.

I am from Grand Prairie.  75050 and 75051 can be a little iffy.  It's hit and miss!  Look into the 75052 - South part of town.  The area is a lot nicer and if you plan to raise kids there, that's where most new families are moving!  Hope that helps!

I can't be of any help on this one, but I want to tell you that I know how ya feel. I just moved to Dallas and we are looking for a house, finding out which areas are good or bad is such a hard process. GOODLUCK!

Funny thing you mention the apartments with the golf course they lived there, really I think that theft becomes more common in apartments and the closer you live to them. They moved to the housing area down avenue k maybe about a mile and it is a really nice area. Her Fi parents have lived in the same area for about 10 years and said they have never had a problem except with roudy neighbors a couple of years back. Anyways, she said that is not a good area and that she wouldn't move there, says she thinks it has the highest crime rate in GP.
