Head count for cake

I have 180 guests as my final head count. I am debating whether or not I should give the cake bakery a guest number of 150 to save a little money.  In my experience as a wedding guest, there are a lot of people who don't eat cake, and it goes to waste.  Our reception venue is not serving the cake to each guest individually - they are setting the slices on a table for guests to go pick up.  Thoughts?

I think you would be fine with cake to serve 150.

I agree that you will probably be fine with 150.  We had left over cake, and we took it home.  We also had a few parties to go to the week after our wedding so we took left over cake to those events too.  It definitely did not go to waste!

There are also people who ask for more than one piece! I'd get enough to cover everyone (you never know - you might run out if you get 150) and eat leftovers for breakfast! That's what we did (we purposely ordered more for the purpose of Breakfast of Champions).

Thanks!  We're getting married 5 hours from where we live, and we're leaving right after the wedding for the honeymoon and then going straight home so unfortunately we won't be able to enjoy any left overs ourselves.

Then give them to your family. My parents made off with a bunch of our leftovers...

I think I'd go ahead and get enough for all 180 guests, just to be safe. Some people will definitely have more than 1 piece, and I'm sure family/friends would be glad to box some of for later if there is extra.

I, too, worried about having too much cake.  My mother looked at me llike I was crazy and said, "There is no such thing as too much cake."

In my family, leftovers would be eaten.
