Winter Cake topper for summer wedding...

Hi there,

I just bought a cake topper and I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate it into our cake design.

The cake topper is of a bride and groom on skis (we got engaged this November while cross-country skiing at night under a full moon). As soon as we bought it, I realized it may seem out of place for our August wedding.

We ordered a three tier, round butter cream cake. Our wedding colors are light blue, light green and brown. Any ideas on a design I can give the bakery on how we can incorporate the cake topper but make it fit our summer wedding?

Hmm, well, you have a few options.

    1. do something with some powdered sugar for snow on top and do something more summery on the bottom.

    2. Do the cake the way you like, put this topper on top and tell the sweet story of your proposal before you cut it.

    3. Have two cake toppers-- one for the wedding cake and one for the groom's cake. Then one can be summery and one wintery.

How complicated of a cake design are you looking for? With a few more details, i can show you some better ideas.

OH! Or a "ski run" sloping down the cake, but make it with nice summer flowers. That could be awesome.

What type of cake do you plan on having?  Friends of ours met while whitewater kayaking.  They had a cake done at Publix of white water rapids complete with boulders and trees on the side of the "river" with two kayakers going down it.

You could go with a ski slope, or just create a small cake for the top layer with a light blue/white theme.

That is such a cool idea! You should talk to your cake baker about this as well.

If your cake allows it, you could do all four seasons and have the top tier represent winter?
