How many hor'd oeuvres?

I'm having a buffet dinner and a full bar at my cocktail hour. My reception is on a yacht and the  yacht coordinator suggested butler passed hor'd oeuvres are so much nicer than an hor'd oeuvres display. Its going to be a small reception-only 60 people or so. I'm not sure if I should go with butler passed hor'd ourvres or a display of food or both. What do you think?

If it's in your budget I would go with the butler passed

I think one or the other is sufficient.  There's no reason to do both.

We did butler passed.  Since I didn't attend our cocktail hour I can't say for sure, but I heard it was fine!  We did 6 different appetizers with enough for each guest to have 2 of each.

We're having butler-passed hors d'oeuvres for the hot foods, and then a small display of veggies / cheeses for anyone who wants to snack when there isn't a butler handy.

We are having 4 different passed hors d'oeuvres (2 hot, 2 cold), and some kind of display. But we are planning on 250+ people, I think for your situation one or the other would be fine.

I have the same number of people, and we are doing 3 bulter passed, and then we will have spanish almonds and olives on each of cocktail tables.  I think having a few passed is nice, and it gets people excited for dinner!

I would do 3 cold and 3 hot passed if you can swing it!  Sounds like an awesome time! Good luck!

On a yacht, there are space issues.  Passed hors d'oeuvres take up less space in the reception areas, so I'd stick with passed, unless there's a built-in table where there can be a display or two.
