Alcohol Poll....We're not drinkers so we need your help!

Since I personally don't drink alcohol (just don't care for it), I am not sure from the following choices what most would prefer. We plan on having two types of beer and then of course wine. What would you and your s/o normally drink at a reception if you were drinking alchohol? TIA!

I don't drink either (same us you). But I voted for Bud light because it seems to be one of the more popular light beers.

I dont drink any more either but when I did a sweet white wine was always nice.

Quick question - have you considered a cash bar for alcohol instead? I know a lot of people consider this rude, but if you or your FI dont drink then most people would be very understanding ot that...I know our guests are.

I have to disagree with this.  If a bride and groom decide they do not wish to drink that is fine, but it doen't change the rules of etiquette when it comes to providing for your guests.

I have never been to a wedding that was open bar.  We will be having a cash bar and I don't think anyone will object or be offended.  As to the OP, I picked Mich Ultra.

Personally, I think cash bars are tacky. You are hosting a party and thanking your guests for coming to your wedding; you shouldn't ask guests to open their wallet at the party.

I voted for White Zin. My fiance would have voted for the Bud Light.

My choice isn't on your list: Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Ditto.
I voted for merlot.  FI would have voted for Bud Light.  It is probably a good idea to have 1 red wine, 1 white wine an a few types of beer.

Wine drinkers aren't going to like anything sweet so I'd stay away from those.

I dont drink either my neither my FI or I drink, we asked the hall if we could just do an open menu because everyone we asked seemed to want something different. So we just have the full range of what the bar has stocked. We are also considering a specialty drink...

I dont really think I have been to a wedding were it was open bar all night either, no that I think of it. I have been to dry bar weddings and I wasnt bothered because I dont drink but a few of the guests were bummed...

</div><div>THIS.  Unless I am in the mood for an after dinner wine (in which case a nice sweet Alsace or Riesling would be alright) I want something drier than White Zin or sweet red wine. </div><div>
</div><div>I voted for Merlot but that's only because Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir weren't choices. </div>

I usually either drink Pinot Noir or Cabernet Sauvignon for reds and Amstel Light or Stella Artois for beer.

I don't like any of the choices sorry- I like Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand for wine and for beer, I usually go with a Stella or Blue Moon

I've never been to a wedding with a cash bar, so there's that.

OP, from your selections the Chardonnay is the least objectionable, but I would prefer a Cabernet. Or better, a nice Rioja.

I have to be honest, none of the above. I love beer, but those are probably my least favorite kinds. They're flavorless and people who drink them aren't people who usually drink beer. Granted, at a BBQ or picnic, or when beer is free, many people WILL drink them. But it's probably not going to be anyone's favorite.

As for white zin or sweet red - most wine drinkers will not like those. I'd say most "wine people" prefer dry wines. A Chardonnay or a Sauv blanc will be fine for a white, Merlot or Cabernet will be fine for a red, as long as it's decent.

Well MSMERYMAC this alcohol IS free! LOL! What kind of beers do "people who drink beer" prefer? This is Ohio by the way, not LA! I think people who drink beer here are okay with Budweiser and Miller. Ifn anyone has any advice on what their favorite beer is, that would be nice too. I'm not serving hoite toite beer at my wedding. It is an open bar as far as beer and wine go and I am all about serving the favorites, but really not looking to buy Imports, etc. Where I'm from, people just want to drink and have a good time! Thanks for any info!!
