Candy Haven

Has anyone done a tasting at Candy Haven?

I have heard the rumor that they are $4 a slice but that the grooms cake is free. Is this the truth?

Do you remember what flavors you tried?

I would appreciate any information you could give me!

I honestly don't remember how much per slice a cake was.  But we did get the groom's cake free.

    Flavors:
vanilla, chocolate, german chocolate, grand marnier, butter rum, strawberry...there are quite a few others.

We had german chocolate, grand marnier, butter rum, and strawberry for flavors on our cakes.

It is really, really delicious cake.  Like..absolutely fantastic.  I want to say it was $3.50 a slice when I looked but I'm not sure.  The grooms cake was free though, you are correct.

For the grooms cake did you have to pick from a style they offered or are you able to have it customized to how you wanted?

You can kind of customize...but anything really special is extra.

    Thanks for the help ladies.

I went to my tasting at Delicious Cakes and really liked everything there.  So now Im wondering if I should still go to the tasting at Candy Haven.

I would definitely get another tasting in.  You never know and it would give you something to compare to.

    I agree.  Definitely worth tasting.

This doesn't directly answer your question, but I thought you might want to know....

I'm from Denton, and we (my friends and I) always had Candy Haven cakes for our birthdays. So when my childhood BF was getting married, she obviously got her cake there. I went to the tasting, which was amazing, and the finished cakes looked great.

The only problem was that I thought the actual wedding cake was super dry. Now, no one else seems to remember that, but I distinctly do. It was probably just a fluke, and her wedding was the day before New Year's Eve so maybe there was a time issue...

I'll probably do a tasting there, too... but sometimes 1 bad experience is hard too overcome. I'll definitely ask how long in advance my cake will be made to avoid it drying out...

I really did not like their cake.  I thought it was dry and way too sweet.  It was my least favorite of the three that I tried (CH, Jackie Spratt, Panini).  I would definitely do a tasting to see though. Everyone's taste buds are different.

The grooms cake was free and it was a basic pattern.  Nothing fancy or that was extra, as Mariah said.  Good luck. Cake tasting is so much fun. There is simply no reason not to go to several places!

I have been to about 4 other places and of those Delicious Cakes has been the best and its a good price.

I think I am gonna go ahead and try Candy Haven. Cake tasting was the part of wedding planning that I was most looking forward to, and it has become the hardest decision for me!
