Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

In need of WR advice..

Did/Are you having a videographer? If yes, was it worth it? If no, Do you wish you did?

I am trying to decide if it will be worth the extra expense or If the pictures will be enough. (I'm hoping to use Mcgowan!) My hopeful venue provides a video of the ceremony itself.

Also has anyone been married at the Piazza? I was hoping to book it on Tuesday, But there's really no hotels around and not really any resteraunts for a RD?
I was thinking about going to Grapevine or Ft. Worth about the same distance...But I don't want to lose people in between the rehersal and the Dinner.

I think I'm worrying about silly stuff for nothing...but idk.

TIA!

I can't help with specifics on the Piazza but there are definitely lots of good restaurants in/around Colleyville that would be a pretty short distance from the venue.

As far as the video, I think it is just your personal preference.

We personally didn't want one and didn't have the budget for it.  The McGowan's did a wonderful job on our album and I will always remember it vividly.  I don't regret not having one.

Didn't have a videographer and don't regret it. I have no desire to sit down and watch our wedding again. And if I did, I would only want to do it once, not over and over. Surely not enough to pay for the cost. We chose to spend more on our photographer.

I had a camera set up to record the ceremony... it was over in a corner of the altar, and the pianist hit play before she started.  I haven't actually watched it yet because it's still on my brother's hard drive, but that was the main thing I was concerned about capturing.  I don't know much about the Piazza so I can't help there. HTH!

The Piazza!!! That's my stomping grounds.  :)

There's TONS of places over there - lots of little hole-in-the-wall types too.  There's also La Hacienda Ranch right off 121 in Colleyville that's pretty popular (and not too expensive).  There's also a Mac's Steakhouse if you're looking for more expensive.

Hotels - there's tons in Grapevine - TONS.  Off the top of my head - Gaylord, Embassy Suites, Marriott, Hilton DFW Lakes, Courtyard...

I am having a videographer, but I struggled with the decision.  I think that you have to know yourself well enough to figure out if you will want to watch your ceremony again.

I don't know that I would...which probably means I def. won't watch the preceremony stuff...I would much rather have pics of the pre-ceremony than a video I think.
I just needed the extra shove to realize that I think.
     Thanks for all your advice!

I did not have video and it is my one regret.  Do I think I would watch it a hundred times?  No.  But knowing I can never see my wedding ceremony ever again is painful. Ben's grandmother was 100 at our wedding--I hate that we won't have it to look back on.

Our venue provided a video of the ceremony and I haven't watched it yet.  Our venue was up Glade a little bit from Piazza and we had our RD at La Hacienda Ranch off 121 and we had no problems getting everyone there.  Also the hotels Brianna mentioned are great and pretty close to other resturants and shopping if your guest needed/wanted that.

There's Bellisimo's just right down the street in Colleyville.  Plus there's also some very good restaurants in Southlake (Anamia's, Mi Cocina, Campania, Brio).  And the hotels on 114 in Grapevine are only 10-15 minutes to the Piazza.  If it had been opened when we were ready to book, I would have seriously considered it.

Here is the link to Lacy's pics at Piazza.  (Lacy & Chris 11/20/10).

She used the Gaylord as her wedding night  hotel.

Like Tiffany said, getting a video or not is a personal choice.

if you make the decision not to get one, you can't really miss what you don't have... so  you don't have have to worry about it.

For me personally, I love looking at the over 1000 pictures from the wedding, but I also love watching the video because that night went so fast, and I like to relive the moments of the reception, mainly, that I missed.

We got copies for our families and those who were unable to attend/out of the country too and they loved being able to see it too; we are 100% happy with the decision to get the videography done.

Like bsn1752, my stomping ground as well and you have tons of great options for both RD and hotels. I'm getting married in October in Grapevine and we had a lot to choose from for hotel blocks for our OOT guests. Can't go wrong with the area...and cute little spas for bridal luncheons as well! ;-)

When we toured the Piazza, they prided themselves with hotels not being so far away. So you may want to look further into that. We have a ton of OOT guests coming, so that was onee of the FIRST things we asked. They also said that the hotels close by are very good at blocking off rooms for their weddings!

[QUOTE]I did not want a video until I saw one that was posted on here a week ago.  The price, unfortunately, is a little hard to swallow.  The girl I like is actually the most reasonable of the videographers I've found that I liked. Like PP said, it is all a matter of personal preference.  It's really all in the editing, I think, so FI and I have said that if we don't actually hire someone, we may ask one of our friends to record the ceremony and reception and then have the video edited later, so that we will have something to look back at if we want to.  I think that with all the pictures we're getting, we're going to have plenty of memories of that night.  Kind of like Kathy said, it would be nice to catch some of those moments we're undoubtedly going to miss. <strong>PS: Brianna, I would loooove if you could send me your VO's info.  I'm actually thinking of hiring Britt Creedon if we can afford it.

I am also a proud McGowan bride and while I have 100% faith that Chelsea and Mack will capture my day perfectly in pictures I still want videos so I can HEAR the vows which is the only thing photos cant capture.  Video was not a large priority and I went with one of the cheaper options I could find as I really only want the audio.

This. This is exactly why I got a videographer. While I have seen that my photographer has captured some greaat moments, there are a few that I'd love to look back and HEAR as well - particularly his reaction at first look, which my videographer is mic'ing him for.

Uh, I may get a videographer just for this. When I think of how it would all play out, I think that missing the verbal reaction would be one of the things that I would love to go back and watch. And I was dead set against getting one. GAH!

Call Jason with Wylie Video. Good price and he suggested the whole mic'ing E for that.

i thought about it long and hard and then had nightmares about not having a videographer. i finally decided about 3 months ago to start on the task of finding one. unfortunately, almost everyone that was suggested by knotties were booked! i had to find someone else, who was recommended by another vendor, but if you're semi-interested at least get some feelers out.

We did not hire a videographer. Instead, we spent the money we would have spent on raw video only and bought a nice digital camcorder. We had my BIL film the ceremony and the toasts. It's much more wobbly than I thought it would be with the image stabilizer, but like PPs have said, it's more about the audio.
