Bridget, where are you going?  Maybe one of the Knotties can meet you there!
  • edited December 2011
you are so sweet!.... but meeting someone for the first time might be a little weird as i try on my dress... thanks though. the thought alone makes me smile :)

just a little sad that my mom (who just had MAJOR back surgery 2 weeks ago, and lives in south louisiana) hasn't gotten to be apart of it and will not see it until the morning of the wedding. she is praying that she can walk by then without a walker and can get around on her own by then (sept. 18th).

Oh goodness Bridget! I hope she has a speedy recovery! Hopefully the thought of your wedding will help her get better faster :)

My wedding shoes came in yesterday and I'm a little disappointed. My heel slips out the back, but if I go down a size, they will be too tight in the toes. And, the inside of the shoe pinches the ball of my foot a little. But, I put them on and walked halfway across the house and they're scuffed already so I can't return them. But it doesn't matter, because I'm just so tired of looking for shoes, I'm just going to make them work.

Bananna, I totally understand!  The shoes are the hardest part for me!  I get so frustrated just looking at all of them and not finding the right ones!

Ugh, I know. I wear a 5 1/2 but my feet are wide (like little squares). So shoes are either too tight or too long. Or they don't have my size. And I can't handle much of a heel. If the ones I bought still aren't comfortable with gel inserts and heel grips, I'm just going to say screw it and buy a pair of silver flats.

But what's worse, I thought I had it bad until I started looking for dress shoes for FI. He wears a 5 1/2 in men's, and the only places that I could find dress shoes in his size are Payless (cheap and uncomfortable) or Ecco (very expensive). I may just suck it up and buy him the expensive shoes even though they're not in the budget. At least he'll get years of use out of them!

Banana- Why dont you get those inserts for the heel part. They decrease the size by like 1/2 in

I have them in a few pair of my shoes and they work great. You can get them at WalMart or Payless for under $5

    They look like this:

I really think that one of my BM's and I probably won't be great friends after my wedding is over. It's sad, but I'm learning what kind of person she really is, and I don't really like what I see.

Yes I am definitely getting those heel things. I've used them before, too. I think I've seen them made out of that gel stuff recently. Have you tried those? I bed they'd be a little more comfortable.

Ezzy - The past couple of weeks my allergies have been really bad.

I'm thinkin of going to Pick'n for Preemies at Billy Bob's this year.   Somehow I always end up missing it and I know last year it would have been amazing.

Bananna, you're 5 1/2 size feet make my 10s seem huge!  Sometimes I wish I had smaller feet  :)

My allergies have been pretty bad since we started getting all this rain.  The worse part is that I have been really tired.

My dream last night had StephieHall in it and someone else.  We were at a wedding of a soap opera character and they were mad that you had to go to the second floor to get wine and beer.  You also had to buy your favor.  Very weird.

Mariah - I love your siggy quote... I LOVE STONEY!!  :)

Today - I got a normally wonderful salad for lunch... I was so excited.  I get it back to my office, open the box and take a big bite... and it has bleu cheese dressing.  I asked for ranch.  I hate bleu cheese.  Now I'm hungry and out of time to go get something else... Ugh.

Sorry about your salad. :-( Where did you get it from?
Plus, why would they put dressing on a to-go order? The greens get soggy. :-(

yes!  I woke up with my eyes all puffy and swollen.  I've spent the entire day with a kleenex glued to my nose (at least it feels that way).

ONE MONTH UNTIL OUR WEDDING!!!  So excited!  So much to do... oh well, at least we will be married whether there is music and programs or not!  :)

Why is it that when 12-1 pm rolls around, people seem to think it's their "free time" to watch videos and play music without headphones or have really loud speakerphone conversations?? Not everyone goes out to lunch every day, and I prefer to eat at my desk than in the really loud and crowded break room, but I don't really want to hear someone else's music/discussions/etc. Does anyone else have this problem?

So I'm currently looking for a job anywhere around here for a teaching position. I'm super passionate about it and it's what I was BORN TO DO. So, with that being said, I'm also a fresh graduate (at 28) with no teaching experience. I have applied to like all districts within a sixty mile radius. I'm emailing principals LEFT.AND.RIGHT. I feel like I'm doing everything I can. Zero interviews.. time is running out for my chance to teach this year.

And you know what annoys me? I have been a bartender for six years at a restaurant and I took time off to student teach but I've been working this summer. And it never fails when I'm chit chatting with guests and we get to talking about my situation they will tell me, "You know, you should apply _____ because there is a new school there" (that's not how the hiring process works, they don't just fill a school with a bunch of brand new teachers... and btw, what makes you think i haven't applied there? i wasn't joking when i said i applied everywhere) or "Texas needs teachers so bad, how do you not have a job yet?" .. i'm like, REALLY because with budget cuts, the districts I applied to are hardly hiring... I know people are trying to help but it's the same song and dance every time.. I'm thinking, don't you think with me being in the actual situation, I am doing what I can?

This is totally just a random vent... normally I am appreciative of people caring enough to talk about it... but it's just mentally exhausting and defeating.

Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.

I've been trying to get a teaching job for 3 years.  I've had my certificate for 2.  The last interview I went on, I didn't get the job because I didn't have enough "experience".  How am I supposed to get it if no one gives me a chance???  You'll find a job.  If this interview I have tomorrow doesn't work out, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start substitute teaching and working part time because that's the only way I'll be able to get some kind of experience and get my name out there to some districts and principals.  I know it's frustrating.  Believe me.  I know EXACTLY where you're coming from.  Nothing embarrasses me more than telling a family member or family member friend that I'm a receptionist...even though I have my bachelors degree in music education.  If someone had told me that after graduating from college that I'd be a receptionist, I would have laughed in their face....it's a frustrating and emotionally draining process.  I'll pray that you get lucky.

So I had a little mishap or miscommunication with my DJ that I was pretty sure I was going to hire who told me yesterday that he booked someone for our date after he told me that he would contact me if someone was interested in that date.  Needless to say I was a little miffed and angry but luckily he sent me a name and number of another guy and I just got off the phone with him and we are meeting him for coffee on Sunday so I'm very relieved that I think it was all be okay.  I have had NO wedding drama to date until this came around.  I am doing everything in my power to not let this wedding control my life because it's not about the one day event but about the marriage and making sure that is strong and lasting but that through me for a little loop yesterday.

Plus on top of all that my fiance and I are coming off of a week of having food poisoning.  I'm still just eating crackers which is not what I want to be eating.  Blegh....

Oh and Amber, the only way I got these last 2 interviews was from people I know.  The first was from my old roommate who mentioned my name to someone and then this one I'm going on, my sister works for the district and heard about the job opening.  I'm beginning to realize the only way I may be getting a job is because of the people I know.

I know, that's the other thing-- I know NO ONE. All of my schoolmates that graduated and got jobs have admitted that it all came down to knowing someone.
