Virginia

Finding a venue on a budget is sooo frustrating!!

Ive read multiple threads on here but figured i would post my own.
I am newly engaged, literally 2 weeks ago...and I have just begun the adventure of "wedding planning". Ive found that the hardest thing is trying to find a venue with a wedding package or a venue and caterer around $4500.

I am looking for a venue in the hampton roads area (virginia beach, norfolk, newport news, hampton, suffolk, williamsburg). I would prefer an indoor venue since virginia weather is so sketchy. I am looking to possibly get married in the peak season of april-may.

I really am having a hard time =/ and so far wedding planning has become not-so-fun! Some things are somewhat confusing and I do not know how some things work...i.e. renting all of the tables, chairs, dancefloor etc. at the harrison opera house. I feel that this would add up to be just as expensive as everywhere else. Also is it normal to have a whole bunch of carving and specialy stations instead of a buffet or plated dinner?

If anyone could help and give any suggestions I would appreciate it like no other!! =)

We are getting married at the 2007 Legacy Hall http://www.jccegov.com/recreation/legacyhall/index.html It's $150/per hour on weekends & $125/per hour on the other days. Or you could try the Williamsburg Community Center http://www.williamsburgva.gov/Index.aspx?page=233 It's $125/per hour on weekends & $100/per hour on the other days.

The Renaissance Room In VA Beach http://renaissanceroomvb.com/venue.html I don't know the price. You would have to contact them for the price.

You're so very welcomed. Happy planning.:)

"some of these are great venue ideas!"

Thanks! I know how it feels to become overwhelmed as well and if I could help another bride. I will definitely try.

Here's another thought.  Look for non-traditional places (ie. places that their sole business isn't wedding receptions or big corporate parties).  We started looking at restaurants that have party rooms.  Depending on the place, they're a lot more reasonable.

I didn't see a wedding date posted, but you might want to consider alternate days if you're trying to do it on a Saturday.  *Everybody* gets married on a Saturday because that's when you're "supposed" to do it.  Try a Sunday, a Friday, or even a weekday.  The people who truely love you and are coming for the right reasons will be there even if you don't do it on a Saturday.

Try the Honeybee golf club in Virginia Beach I'm not sure how many people you have but if you have under 100 they are within your budget!

Cypress Point Country Club in Virginia Beach. Look it up. We booked it. We have 100 guests, our total price including venue, ceremony/ reception on premises, food, bar tenders, snacks, decorating, cake service, taxes and gratuity is just under $4200. Great menu, beautiful place. Go online, they have a comnplete wedding/event listing with menus and ALL costs listed. I found most places had hidden fees or wouldnt post prices at all.
This price does not include alcohol. We are doing a cash bar. Does not include the actual cake, though if you book through them, they refer you to Mrs Bs Cheesecake Wedding Cakes and you get a discount if you use her. We are and let me just say OMG yummy!!!!!! This does not include the DJ OR photographer. All in all, Im pleased with the price. Did i mention its beautiful??
Almost forgot, it includes the chairs, tables, linens, napkins, glasswear, silver, china, an arch you can use if ceremony is on site, indoor or outdoor.

The Lesner Inn in Va Beach is very pretty as well. I had them send me info on their room rentals, very pretty. I am also planning a late April wedding :) They have a couple of different room and menu options. I chose not to use them only because of the time restrictions but if that isnt a problem for you, I'm sure it would be a lovely place to have the wedding and reception.
    Good luck
