Did the priest offer or did you ask for it?

for the baptism? we asked him if he would and he said yes, but he wanted to do it at 9:30am because the "baby" baptisms were at 11:00am.

Hmm...Catholic or Episcopal? I honestly don't know if you have to give any for baptism, but a $25 or $50 stipend in sealed envelope with a thank you card is probably more than enough.

My father is an ordained Minister and he does not charge for that! He does however take a "LOVE OFFERING".....Point being you are NOT obligated to pay for baptism! If you would like to get him something you could get a TY card along w/a gift card or $25-$50 bucks! Hope that helps! Congrats to you and your Fiance!

I was just baptised (Episcopal church) a month ago, and I never thought to give money specifically for that. Oops.

That's cool that they're doing it separately for your FI! I had to follow six babies. In fact, during the sermon they frequently referenced the "seven babies" that were to be baptized that day ... me being the seventh, I guess.

Yea I would think $50 is a good amount if you can do it, but $25 is fine too..Honestly they will appreciate any amount you give because you are not obligated to give anything.

Bridget - I started giggling so bad I almost couldn't stop every time they made mention of how wonderful it was to witness the seven babies getting baptized ... the babies this, the babies that... and I was sitting right up at the front, in the designated baptism pews.

Also, I missed the rehearsal, but the pastor told me that I could just go last and "just do what the ones before you do."

This was before the service, so I said, "oh, great! Are there other adults being baptized?"

    He said, "um...no."

So I was like, "so I do ... what the babies do?"

I'm proud to say, I didn't cry, fuss, kick or fall asleep afterward like the other babies did. :)
