Getting in Shape

bloating

I know the best fix for bloating is to drink lots of water, which I will be doing all week, but Saturday (aka the wedding day) I'm not going to be able to drink nearly as much water.  Does Midol really help?  Is there anything that would actually help and not be dangerous?

Re: bloating

  • i have no idea if midol would help, but if you try to eat as many water-packed foods (like fruits and veggies) as you can, that can sneak a lot more water into your daily intake too. i've heard that taking diuretics will help with bloating, but you'll just be peeing a lot, and really dehydrating yourself instead, so i wouldn't advise that... but don't worry - if you drink your target amount each day and avoid salt, you'll be fine for saturday! are you getting super excited yet?! :]

    Yay exciting!

I wouldn't worry too much about actual day-of bloat.  Do your best to avoid salt on Friday and you'll be alright!

Oh, and stop obsessing and just enjoy!!

  • I am excited! and I'm trying not to obsess, but I'm worried about how salty the rehearsal dinner will be.  Obsessing about that is giving me a break from obsessing about the weather-thunderstorms in the forecast and it's an outdoor reception.  Thank goodness for tents!

  • I am also really concerned about bloating.  I retain so much water if I eat salty foods.  Sometimes my face is literally twice its normal size, my eyelids get really puffy and my hands swell to the point I can barely get my normally loose engagement ring off....so trust me, I feel your pain!!

I have already started to avoid salt as much as possible and my wedding is about 3.5 weeks away.  We have a dinner scheduled with our families two nights before and I am seriously asking the restaurant for their lowest fat/lowest salt meal, I don't care what it is.  We have a party the night before the wedding as well and I don't plan to eat anything at that party unless we end up with fruits/veggies on the menu.  I will eat before.  No alcohol either!

Watch out though with the veggies.  IMO, eating too many vegetables can make you bloated, especially in the stomach area!
