Getting in Shape

WW Accuntability Girls- New WW member who needs ideas for food

Hi Ladies,

I just signed up for WW online today.  I am going to start on Monday so I can figure out what types of meals to eat so I can go food shopping on Saturday to but some stuff.  I also need to buy a scale so I am going to stop at Target on my way home tonight to pick one up.

I am looking to lose about 15 lbs all together.  I am not getting married for another year but I would love to just feel great in my bathing suit this summer and overall eat healthier.

I do eat pretty healthy for the most part my hardest obstacle is chocolate!!  I try to work out about 3-4 days a week for about 45 minutes each time.

I sit behind a desk at work for 8 hours a day.  I am just looking for some good ideas for breakfast.  Lunch I think will be easy for me to calculate my points.  I am allowed 29 plus points a day.

TIA!!!

[QUOTE]What helps me in the beginning is to go around and mark the point values on all my foods. It gives you a good picture of what items are healthy and what are not and also what portions you are allowed. For lunch I usually do salads or frozen meals that have the WW points on them. It is just easier for me. Breakfast I do cereal or oatmeal.  Now fruits and vegies are free so those are my snacks in the morning and afternoon. I work 8-5 so have to snack in the day or I'm starving and tempted to hit vending machines.  Eating out is usually bad so limit that. Also, cooking dinner from scratch will help to add or omit items based on points. Prepacked meals will a lot of times be higher points with little servings. Not sure which scale you are getting but make sure to get a food scale also. It helps to weigh your meat and things like chips too. The bag may say 15 chips for a serving but if you weight it a lot of times you get more! And remember to let yourself have cravings. Even if you dip into your weekly points allow yourself chocolate but just limit the intake.

Thanks for the advice!!  I love to eat salads so that is easy for me for lunch.  Do you have a good low cal dressing that you like to use?

I am a big cooker we only order take out once a week if that so I will be cooking 95% of my meals myself!!

I also work 8-5 so I always get the 10 am and 3 pm hunger itch.  I like to munch on grapes for my snack I looked them up and they are 0 so that is good.  I think I am going to try and eat less points during the day so I can eat rice or another type of carb with dinner at night.

I love yogurt dressings, they are found in the produce section of my supermarket.  The ones I use most are caesar and honey mustard.

  • These may not be traditional breakfast foods but I love them:

Celery with Hummus (Tribe Origins Spicy Red Pepper rocks!)

Babybel Light mini cheese wheels (only 40 calories and taste like mozzarella)

Oscar Mayer Rotisserie Seasoned Chicken Lunch meat (50 cals per 5 slices)

Yoplait Light yogurts - I get the dessert flavors

Jenni-O Pre made dinners - Includes turkey meatloaf, salisbury steak, etc.  I find them in the meat section.

Sugar Free Jello - Really good end of the night snack

  • Congrats on joining WW! I have been a member for 2 years now.
I suggest getting a high powered food for breakfast in the morning that will keep you satisfied for later.  I eat oatmeal most mornings, that gets me through most of the morning. also I do fruit in the mid-morning and afternoon.  Bananas, apples are always good. also, weight watchers has 1 point string cheese individually wrapped that is a good snack.
you will find what works for you in this process.  if you cook that much, you will do well. I ate out 3-4 times a week and still was able to lose 57 pounds. I know that factored into how slowly it took for me to lose the weight.

  • I love the Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice Steamers, they run from about 6 to 9 points plus value.  But this program is amazing, I don't deprive myself, go out to eat alot, in 3 months I have lost 32 pounds!   But I have 100 pounds to loose so you won't loose that fast if you only have 15 pounds.
