Getting in Shape

New to this board, Hi Everyone!

Hi Everyone,

So usually I stay on my own boards as a dirty lurker and an occasional poster but I ventured off. I'm getting married Oct. 9, 2011 and figure I better start getting into shape besides the oval I've become! I joined a local gym (Curves) and just seeing the scale go up...ugh. Any advice for starting out to loose some poundage? Thanks!!!

    First thing, it's lose, not loose when talking about pounds.  You pants get loose as you lose weight. 

    Second, are you tracking your food intake at all?  If not, I'd recommend a free site like SparkPeople or MyPlate (through Livestrong.com).

  • keep reading the posts and the threads on here, and you will catch on to what everyone else is doing..
     
    One tip of mine is the instant you walk in the door from work, immediatly put your work out clothes on.. because once they are on, you will most likely work out and not be like "meh, I don't feel like it". 

    if you already have on the clothes and shoes, all you gotta do now is walk out that door.. and take a walk.. or do a video inside.. videos are great advice..

    and eating right, as you will learn if you keep lurking on here.. lots of good food suggestions on here

  • I'm new as well! I'm getting married on 10-10-10 so I really only have 2 months to go! I don't need/want to lose LOTS of weight, just really tone up and maybe lose 5-10 lbs. I'm trying WW on my own mixed with my fitness pal online and a gym membership. :)

  • start with some basic cardio like walking and work your way up to more intense work outs.  You gotta start somewhere so try a walk or a beginners aerobic video
