Re: WW

  • My advice, on my second go w/WW, is to make the "plan" work for you. You have to be flexible and not beat yourself up if you go over your points one day.

Also, utilize etools. The first time I joined WW they didn't have etools, and I love it. There are gret recipes, you can look up food even easier and if you have a IPhone/Blackberry you can track and look up foods on the go.

    Good luck!
  • I'm new to WW, and it's an adjustment.  The point system is centered around low fat, high fiber.  At first I was always hungry because I was eating my points but not getting enough fiber and filling foods.  The website has some great tools, and has been a good resource - especially the restaurant guides.  It helps that almost everyone at work is on WW (we partnered with WW for our company wellness incentive program), so I have people around all day long to help keep me accountable.

Track, track, track. It'll help keep you honest and down the line help you identify patterns in your eating/exercising habits that need changing.

Also, if using e-tools, the AP estimates they offer are *very* high. When I got my heart rate monitor, the WW suggested APs for my activities were 2 - 3 points higher than what I was earning.

ETA: Don't put it off until Sept 1!!!  Start now.

  • My advice is that if you can, go to the meetings every week.  I've lost 40 lbs since the end of October.  In May I finally got into a normal BMI range.

  • I also agree with PP, in terms of why wait?  Unless it's a financial issue, you can still eat the foods you want, if you work them in, on the WW plan.  Why put off being healthy for a couple more weeks?

My other advice, try to avoid some of the mega processed WW branded stuff they want you to eat.  BLECH!

  • yeah, I figured that I would wait until September 1st because then it is $40 a month...and my health insurance will reimburse $150 each calendar year...so if I do it for the next 4 months, and the first 4 months of next year, I'll end up paying only $20 out of pocket...that is the only reason why I'm waiting! :)  I'm using the time to get my head in the game...I've been trying so hard with working out and trying to eat better, but not seeing many results, so this will be another thing to push me!
