Going to a gym- wear my ring?

I'm going to a gym to take a boxing class in about 20 min. I haven't been to a gym in years, let alone since I've been engaged.  Whenever I work out at home I take my ring off, so I'm wondering if I should just leave it at home? Especially since I'm going to be wearing boxing gloves?

I think its a matter of personal comfort. My ring really digs into my pinky and middle finger when i do upper body weights so I always take it off beforehand.
  • I would leave it at home. I wouldn't leave it in your locker, I've heard horror stories about that. I'd be worried of losing a stone or something.

  • Good point- I don't want it to hurt when I'm punching. I'll just leave it home.
  • I always leave mine at home.

  • It's seriously been so long since i've actually worked out in public, it was a struggle just to find something to wear!
  • def leave it at home.  I know you're gone already, but I got a small chip in my band (platinum) not even from working out.  Luckily it was small enough to get polished out but the jeweler asked if i wore it when i worked out and I don't.  She said though that a lot of people damage their rings from wearing to the gym...
  • I am glad to know I am not the only one that takes off her ring when I go to the gym!  I have a gold band that I wear to the gym and leave my engagement ring home.  I know I am engaged but I feel guilty when it is off and at my gym there are WAY too many people there checking other people out....so it is more or less a comfort thing.
  • I wear mine everywhere.  But then again, that's why I bought insurance for it.  Because I know if I didn't have it, something bad would happen.  But I think boxing with it could be uncomfortable, so you'd probably be better off to leave it at home.

  • I work out with mine, but I mostly do cardio and free motion machines at the gym.  I would think it might get uncomfortable in boxing gloves...
