Sprained wrist

I think I may have sprained my wrist. Last week I was messing with some files pushing them against a wall and I got shooting pains in my wrist.. Now it hurts like **** and I can barly move it. I dont have ice here but I am going to ice it when I get home. I dont have insurance so not much else I can do.Has anyone else sprained their wrist? How long did it take to go away?

Re: Sprained wrist

  • ive never sprained a wrist, but ive sprained both my ankles (not at the same time...lol) and restricting the movement of it is very important. i got one of those ankle braces from the pharmacy and it helped so much. of course i hobbled around for a few weeks but after that it was much better.

  • Yea, they will see me if I want to pay $90..  I will give it awhile longer.. Its not really swollen but has sharp pains going through it. Last week it was only around my wrist.. now it is going down & is almost to my elbow. I know its not carpel tunnel because I have had that before. If I dont move it at all then it isnt as bad but still hurts but if I even attempt to move it then I get sharp pains.. I know it may not be sprained but I figured if it was sore muscles or something it wouldve stopped hurting by now. It has hurt for a week straight and motrin doesnt even help the pain.. ugh.

  • It sort of sounds like a pinched nerve. That can take a while to go away, but the range of motion stuff is important here. I'm sure you can google webmd or some such thing for ideas. It will probably go away on it's own though. GL!
  • Did this happen at work? You need to file an L&I claim if it did, and your industrial insurance should pay for it. If not... keep looking around for a clinic. You should be able to find something that doesn't require ANY money up front... hopefully one with a sliding scale payment system.
