Makeup Artist & Hair?

I know its pretty early to start looking, but I'd like to go ahead and book my MUA and Hairstylist. I'd like to get the trial, a photosession and have the artist come out on site. I've got 4 other girls that are in the WP that I would like to get done as well and I'm budgeting for around $450. Does this seem reasonable? Any recommendations?

I know this is probably a dumb question (hence why I'm posting here and not on E), but do I need to set up trials for the BMs as well? Thanks ladies!!

My MOH did a trial.  My MUA had never heard of that.  It's usually just for the bride but if they want to pay for one, then whatever.

$450 for 5 girls for hair and makeup AND a trial is not realistic.  I spent almost twice that for just 3 of us.  Maybe someone else will have some suggestions.  There are a couple of posts from today down the page you might want to look at.

Definately NOT realistic....I would say on the cheaper end to have 4 girls plus you and then ONLY you having a trial, would be about $800-$900...on the cheaper end

    sorry :(

Maybe you can pay for just hair OR makeup for each of your bridesmaids..then they can decide if they want to add the other (but definately don't require it)

    Not realistic.

For ONLY me, and ONLY makeup, including wedding day and trial, it's costing me $350. That's for airbrush though, not sure what kind of makeup you're wanting.

Also, I would say it's not too typical to do a trial for BM's and MOH. I only did myself.

Also, if you are on a budget, then don't require them to get their hair and makeup done and only pay for yourself. If they want to pay to get their hair and/or makeup done, great. If not, that's ok too.

Realistically, everyone will be looking at you!

Yes...it is a nice gesture but not required to pay for everyone else's hair and makeup. I too am on a budget and am only paying for my own. I told the girls they could hire someone or do it themselves...I didn't mind either way.

The only way I would say it is required for you to pay is if you require them to get it professionally done...then its only fair for you to fork out the moolah :)

For budget purposes, I'm going to have everything done at the salon with all of the girls... I think that if your budget is firm, you may want to actually go to the salon or cut back on the number of people you'll pay for (like maybe just you and your MOH).

I wasn't going to require it, I thought it would be a nice treat for them. I'm probably not going to do airbrush, it just seems a bit overpriced. Thanks for the advice ladies! The reason I wanted to start looking now was to see if it would fit into my budget and if I can work other things around to make soemthing fit.

Because I'm on a budget, I found a MUA and a hairstylist that were affordable at salons and am booking them to come to me the day of my wedding. They're charging a small travel fee, but their rates are still cheaper than a lot of those that I looked at.  Still, I'll be paying around $700 (including tip) for me and my 4 bridesmaids for the day of. I paid for my trials separately.

Many MUA have an option to do "just eyes" or "just foundation" instead of full face makeup for less money. Some of your bridal party might actually prefer that (or not want professional makeup at all). If my bridal party wanted the minimal makeup, my costs for the day of would actually be around $450 (but before tip - which would be about $100, so more like $550).

I recommend checking with family members and seeing if they have a regular hair stylist or a friend who does hair - you might get a great deal that way. (I did).

It's just me!  :)  And rest assured, I won't be shaving my head any time soon! LOL

Haha...good thing. I don't think it would grow back in time for the wedding! Plus..you look like Britney, pre crazy-shaving head-getting married in vegas. :) When she was still cute and innocent.

I've thought that several times already...just never said anything...lol.  There is a strong resemblance, especially in that top pic.

Audrey, you are right to start looking now.  I had planned to budget it from the beiginning also--I was thinking it would probably be $500 for the 3 of us.  I was shocked when I saw the prices.  I do recommend airbrushing though if you can swing it as it is well worth the added cost.

It is a nice gesture but definitely not required that you pay for the bridal party.  Just let them know the price when you decide and let them make the decision themselves and just budget for yourself.
