40 pounds in 5 months?

I got my dress in April of 2008. Now in July 2009 and I somehow managed to pack on 40 pounds. Is there ANY way I can lose that in 5 months...actually my first fitting is in 2 months. :( I'm freaking out...

Re: 40 pounds in 5 months?

  • I just posted this exact response to another post a few up... I have lost 17 pounds in a month (non-baby weight-related) before so it's totally doable. (not saying that's safe or normal, but it is doable!) I did this by eating whatever I wanted for lunch--like pizza, meat loaf, Subs, dessert--anything, but I always had a salad with it, eating only veggies with ranch for breakfast and not eating after 3 p.m. (only hot tea at night) + I did 90 minutes of Bikram yoga in a 115-degree room every day...If others want to bash me for that--save it! I don't care, I did what I had to do to fulfill a job contract...not recommending that fast of a weight loss in a normal circumstance, but just saying it can be done. Plus I was definitely getting my daily caloric intake, just rearranging it on the clock, which makes a HUGE difference. But before my wedding, I still had baby weight to lose and I was feeling helpless...but I managed to lost 7 of the 10 pounds I wanted to lose in 3 weeks and was pretty satisfied with that. What I did: 1) Only drank water with lemon (no soda, juice, alcohol, coffee etc...) 2) replaced chips, cookies, crackers with veggies & hummus or fruit 3) Did not eat after 6 p.m. 4) Obviously no fries or ice cream, I ate a lot of Chick Fil A salads! 5) protein shake with banana for breakfast 6) 30-day shred 7) If I absolutely had to have a sweet, I would eat a Kashi bar, great, all-natural products or no sugar added applesauce It's not really crash dieting, it's just cleaning it up A LOT. Like, you will definitely wake up hungry and probably go to bed a little hungry too...I am not saying starve yourself by any means, eat smart and healthy throughout the day, just taper it off at night...if you are really serious about losing it, you totally can. But it will take some discipline. (I did lax up a lot on the weekends too so it wasn't totally nuts). I don't know about your body, but mine really responds quickly to running--even for like 10-20 minutes. It totally works for me to drop weight quickly. I didn't do that this time around but have in the past with great results. As far as motivation, I was having the same problem. But looking at myself in a picture of my wedding dress was enough to make me want to buckle down for a month in order to look good (or better) in pictures that I would have for the rest of my life!! Best of Luck!!
