Dress fitting!

So I went for my first fitting this past Saturday. They weren't supposed to have started building the dress yet, just the lining. Well, they goofed and built the dress. I was upset but what are you going to do?The good news is, they built it off my old measurements and had to take it in 2 inches on each side, 3 inches in the back and I don't even know how many inches on the side of the skirt on the bottom! It was a FANTASTIC feeling!Guess they shouldn't have doubted me :) I know a lot of brides say they are going to lose weight and don't but I have been working my butt off and it has paid off - 30 lbs today! And I plan on losing another 10-15 before the wedding (2 months from now).My next fitting is 3 weeks before the wedding and they told me I could continue to lose up until then. I just hope the dress isn't wacky because of too many alterations. But if it is, I will put up a big stink and make them re-build it from scratch because it was their error. They swore up and down it wouldn't be built until after this most recent fitting/they had taken my new measurements....

Re: Dress fitting!

  • Congrats!!! Exciting to actually try the dress on I bet! My dress was DRAMATICALLY sized down, at least 4 dresssizes! It turned out amazing, I hope yours turns out nice aswell!Do you have any pictures?
  • must be a great feeling! When do we get to see pics?
  • The one picture I have so far is horrible. It is grainy because I took it with my phone and you can't get a good feel for it because it is so loose. I will post next time!!!!! Glad to hear a dress can be altered so much and still look lovely. I have always been concerned about that.... Thanks!!!!!
  • Congrats!! It is such a wonderful feeling to need your dress to be taken in, and you deserve to feel good because you have worked your butt off (probably literally).   We can't wait to see pics!
  • Just an idea to the "changes" the dress had to go through Before (Beginning of January): http://i43.tinypic.com/2ymyjqa.jpg After (End of May): http://i42.tinypic.com/11jvod5.jpg
  • At least they offer to do alterations again!  I told my shop to go tight because I had been sick the past few weeks and was bloaty and hadn't been exercising but they didn't take it in enough and then told me there wasnt time to take it in again (it's a tricky dress to do)... I went from a size 12 to a size 8 for my initial fitting although it really should be a size 6 or 4 waist.  Oh well... I guess it's all better than not fitting in it at all! GL
  • I bought my dress when A.J. owned it.  I had some major issues with the place, and they weren't honest with me.  They said they were waiting for trim to come in, and I think they never ordered it, as they ended up taking it off another dress.  They lied about other stuff as well.  Long story short, I was totally stressed over it, but in the end they came through, and the dress was lovely.  I had so many compliments on the dress.  I don't think I would go there again, because they outright lied to me about stuff.  Just keep badgering them, and hopefully you will get it down to your satisfaction.
