Getting in Shape

POLL: How far have you come, in inches?

Hey ladies! After a week's vacation which included not sticking to my diet or exercising like I should have, I need some motivation to get back on track. And I've always been uber interested in the number on the scale, when I know that doesn't matter as much as inches and just being toned and looking better. So where did you start and where are you now? And how long did it take to lose those inches?

I dont have my exact measurements with me but I first was measured April 15th. Since then I have lost 1.25" from my neck, between 1.5-2.5 per bicep, between 6-6.5 from my chest, waist and hips, between 4-4.5 from each thigh, and around 2" from my calves. The total is about 34.25 right now (as of this past saturday)! The funny part is that I weigh around 10-12lbs MORE than I did this time last year, but fit into all of the clothes I wore then.
  • I don't know the exact inches everywhere .. I went from a size 10 to a size 4 from January till June and maintaining that size if not going smaller ... I losta total of 26 lbs in this time frame and would liketo lose another 10 and tone up more.Size 10 Measurements: B: 36.5W: 28H: 40Size 4 Measurements: B: 34W: 25H: 35.5
  • I'm getting re-measured this Friday after a month of bootcamp, so I don't know my exact measurements right now. But I can say that I've lost 4 pounds (woo hoo!) and my jeans--29 inch waist--are falling off. Even my 28s are loose! The funniest thing I've noticed is how I went from a nice, shapely butt to a much smaller, not as 'plump' butt. It's so weird!! My advice (I'm saying this more for myself, ha!) is to remember the inches you've lost so far and think about where you want to be! It's really tough, but you'll make it! :)
  • I was hoping to get started on measuring...typically what body parts do you measure?  i was thinking bust, waist, hips, thighs and calves.  How do you know you get the same spot each time? Also, all you posts are very motivating- all those inches lost!  Congrats to you all :)

I was originally measured at the biggest part of each body part and Ive just stayed at roughly the same spot since starting. The only part I have trouble measuring sometimes is my thighs because i have short stumpy legs. I normally try to measure a handlength from my knee up. I REALLY wish I had measured my forearms to start out with, I think they look smaller but have no way to know.
  • I don't have my exact measurements with me....but i know i've lost 18.5 inches in 4 months.

  • after staying away from stepping on my scale for a few days, I measured my waist yesturday and lost an inch since the last time I measured it! I cant remember how long ago that was but it was sometime in the last month!
