Wii Fit

(sorry if this has been done before!)FI just got a Wii Fit! I'm excited to try it out. What exercises have you liked/seen results from? I care most about aerobics and strength training, not balance. Let me know what you've enjoyed, or not.(P.S. soo I'm really just posting because I'm so excited to have my first two stars! Woo! But I really am curious about the Wii Fit :o)

Re: Wii Fit

  • There's a Jillian Michaels one where you do a military style obstacle course that looks like a ton of fun!  Unfortunately I don't have the Wii
  • OK so I am totally jealous of your Wii Fit!! :-) I dont have one, but I would say don't underestimate the balance ones. My friend has one, and we did the hula hoop one last week and I swear it had me working up a sweat. Anf giggling uncontrollably. Have soooo much fun with it!!:-)
  • Hi! Ive never posted before so first of all hello to everyone. I think this board is great and I love lurking here.  You ladies all seem great and even though Ive been silent you have given me alot of motivation.I hate the gym (there is one in our building and I have been exactly once) so FI got me a Wii Fit and I LOVE it! I have the basic game it comes with and do that in the mornings mainly for the yoga and cardio. Although I have to say Wii hula hoop contests have become a weekly activity.FI also bought me a game that I think is called Wii Fit Active. There are different activities you can do and you can definately work up a sweat. It includes a 30 day program so the work outs are varied. The first time you do each exercise is a little tedious because they show you how to do it a few times but after that it is great. My workouts consist almost entirely of Wii games and after dinner walks with FI. We started doing South Beach about a month ago and I have lost 10 pounds and he has lost 25!  I have to do South Beach for medical reasons (instead of WW or some of the other popular plans out there) but the combo seems to be working great for us!
  • Welcome Future Mrs F!!! Excuse me?! 10 pounds?! Someone needs to put up some stars, missy! Congrats!!! :-)
  • Thank you! Are my stars not showing? I updated my stats (and was really excited about them!). This is the only board I have posted on-and the only one I really read so I am happy to join you ladies.  Now I just need to lose about 50 lbs and keep it off!!!
  • I have Wii Fit and Wii Active.  I enjoy the balance games and such on Wii Fit.  The Yoga and Strength training excercises are excellent on it as well.  I thought it was lacking a bit in the aerobics (there is a stepper game and some jogging, but that's about it that I've enjoyed).I found that I worked up more of a sweat with the Active.  The cardio on it seems to be superior to that on the Fit, but I use both because they each have their great points and work well together I think.  The Active will get you worked up, and the Fit's yoga and balance stuff will cool you down and improve your posture.  I personally think the strength training on both is pretty comparable, but if you do the 30 day challenge on the Active, it includes strength training, so I no longer do this on the Fit.  HTH!

I love Wii fit! I really feel like strength training and yoga work the best for me. If I am getting board I do the balance games. Also, the boxing game on wii sports is super fun and a great upperbody workout.
  • It's great to hear that everyone who posted seems to like Wii Fit. My FI just bought one and I can't wait to try it this weekend. We only have the basic game, I don't even think we have Wii Fit Active here in Germany even though it sounds great. I might have to do some research and see if I can find that. Anyway, I just hope it'll help me lose weight...
  • I know I'm a bit late, but honestly the push up, side plank activity for Wii fit, and the 'warrior pose' totally tone your body and push you! I find the lunges are really awkward so I prefer the warrior pose, plus my hips were apparently totally mis-aligned and I was amazed how much it helped! The push ups are insanely hard! As for cardio, the only thing that got my heart rate up was the boxing (which I LOVE), but I'm notoriously bottom strong and top weak. If you do the boxing and instead of stepping foward you LUNGE forward, you get an awesome workout! Seriously, try it!
