RSVP question

This might be a dumb question but has anyone used an online rsvp manager instead of response cards? I wanted our computer-savvy friends (and the ones who I know won't mail the card back!) to be able to rsvp online. Is this a bad idea? The one TK offers seems like a PITA plus you have to give guests your log in info-don't wanna do that. Help please-I'm at a loss!

I think people will be just as bad about rsvp'ing online  as they are through the mail. We had a wedding website with all sorts of info on it and included the web address in our invites. I think about 5 people saw it -- and most of our friends are computer-savvy. People are just forgetful/lazy/don't care when it comes to RSVPs or looking at details in an invitation. You can give it a try though. We used ewedding.com for our site and they had an RSVP option.

We used online rsvp's through our www.mywedding.com website.  Both this one and sites provided by weddingwire.com are more user friendly than theknot's RSVP system, it seems.  Both are free.

Our invitations included a response card with directions to RSVP online at our website or at our mailing address.  In the old days, people used their own stationary to write a note for an RSVP, so we assumed that folks who didn't want to do e-RSVP's would go this route.  We did receive 2 handwritten notes as regular RSVP's, but the rest did it online at the website

We created an email address for RSVPs, and some people RSVPed that way.  Most of our responses came via snail-mail.

A friend at the office did her RSVPs online, and when I asked her about her success with it, she said it worked great for her friends (who she described as likely to RSVP regardless of the method) but not so great for her husband's family (who were unlikely to RSVP due to cultural differences).  So I think the method doesn't matter as much as the people (whatever may make them inclined or disinclined to RSVP - like Cheryl said, most people are lazy or forgetful).

Ok I just set up a wedding wire page-hopefully we get most of our rsvps there. I like it a lot better than TK website we have. I'm so overwhelmed-I haven't even ordered the dang invitations yet!  I'm just being lazy & cheap-don't wanna check the mail or waste stamps! Thank you all for your help ladies :)
