OL Tuesday

Dear Guests,

The rooms for our hotel block were held until May 15.  I'm sorry the hotel is now sold out.  But calling me after the deadline trying to get me to call the hotel to see if they have any more rooms (which they don't, which is what sold out means) is not the kind of extra stress I need this week.  Oye vey!

    Dear Demi Lovato,
I thought you were very sweet the other night and I appreciate you not hijacking things at the prom.  I still take issue with some of the things you've said about the kids at one of my schools but hopefully you have matured some.

    Dear Adults,
You blew many things last week completely out of proportion and one of you was so hypocritical that I don't think I will even think of you in a positive manner again.

    Dear Donna,
I love having my picture taken with Rev.  I haven't done it since they got the new one though.

    Dear knotties,
Anyone know of anyone hiring??  At least a job I can do that pays well and has good benefits?  I've been searching on Monster for jobs and everything it seems is out of my league.  I feel like an idiot.  And I have no idea how to find a new job and so something different than what I'm doing now...(currently a receptionist and assistant to a marketing manager).  I've been looking into marketing but I'm not finding anything.  :(

Whoop Donna and Julie.  I've only been back a handful of times since I graduated in 2000.  I barely recognized the campus!!!  I miss the college years so much sometimes.

    Dear Cable,
You've been out for 2 days now.  You must be fixed by the time Lost comes on tonight or I will lose it!  Seriously!  It's the second to last episode.  Ever.

Dear Friend who Always Flakes Out on Our Plans,

I realize that life happens.  But, it seems like every time we make plans - you flake out.  Unless the plan is for me to drive clear to the other side of Dallas to visit you (which I've done several times).  I just wish I could count on you.

    -Me

Mariah - I'll keep my eyes peeled. In what area (location-wise) would you like to stay?

    Dear Fiance,
I hate that you have to work out of state.  A day and half a week is not enough time to spend with you.

    Miss you,

    Dear Self,

I know you hate work and everything about it right now-I'm totally with you on that but I think it's bad karma for you to fake being sick so we can leave early. 63 days & we are outta here-just work with me!

    -Your practical better half

Dear B*tchy lady that I call boss:

I understand you have a lot of personal issues & you're PMSing right now, but face it, we all do. Just suck it up-that's why you're the boss!

    Thanks in advance,
    your fed-up but faithful employee

    Dear Knotties,

I've never done this before but damn it helps! Hope I did it right! :)

    Dear furniture,
I'm so over painting you. I can see all the roller marks in the light and you're probably going to chip the minute someone uses you. Hurry up and dry so I can be done with you.

    Dear DH,
You have got to stop waking up so early. Who wakes up at 7 am when you don't even have to work today. I understand you aren't used to the sun shining into the room since your old room didn't face the morning sun, but I need my sleep!

    Dear Nicole,
I am jealous of getting to sleep until 7 AM.  I have eight more days of my early class and I cannot wait for it to be over so that I can sleep a little longer.  Today it seems even farther away:  I got up at 2 AM to go to the restroom and couldn't get back to sleep until almost 4:30!

Dear FI's side of the family (at least the Dad side),

Just because every last one of you gets married 10 times a piece (no exaggeration here- did you know there are state limits as to how many times you can get married??) doesn't mean our marriage isn't important.  You all are REALLY upsetting FI.  What, do you think you'll catch him on his next marriage???  Really??? It is important to him and you're acting like it's a flucking T-Ball game.  SERIOUSLY!  It's pisssing me off to see him try to blow it off that no one is taking it seriously when I can TELL it's really getting to him.  URRRG!  I want to punch his dad in the face.

    Signed,
seriously ticked Knottie who wants her FI to be happy

    Dear Mariah,
You have a specific field you're limited to or aiming for?  I have a friend who works for Kelley Services in McKinney.  She may know of some things.  Also, are you still interested in teaching?  I can check and see if Dallas is still hiring for the AC program.  And you know, I think if you bite the bullet and apply and follow up on a job that's "out of your league", you may find that they're really not.  The worst they can say is no.  I'd just throw my resume out there a few times and see what comes of it.  FI was applying for a job through monster when he was contacted by a recruiter.  The recruiter helped him beef up his resume and directed him towards another company.  He now has a great job.

    Nicole,
David does something very similar.  We both drag out of bed on the weekdays at 6:30 and that's after snoozing for 15 minutes.  But on the weekends, he is up at 6:00 every day with no alarm.  It doesn't make any sense at all, but he says he naturally wakes up earlier on the weekends because he has stuff to do that he actually enjoys.  I, on the other hand, always sleep in until 9:00 and it is great.

    Self,
You will be making waffles for dinner tonight because that's what I feel like and it's Lost night and you can eat whatever you want.

    Dear Knotties,

I had a congratulations card and a generous gift card on my desk this morning when I came in.   It is signed "Best Wishes, company name"... I have no idea who specifically to thank for this.   I don't have a boss locally so I know it didn't come from him.   I'm guessing its from our VP on behalf of the office (he is not in the office this week so an admin probably did this for him).   Should I just send a thank you note addressed to the office before we leave for our HM?  ..or should I seek out someone to thank specifically?

    Any advice?  It's kinda awkward

    Dear Mariah,

What about a bank? No idea what it pays, but it seems like branches seem to be hiring lately--maybe Chase?

    Dear my-side-of-the-family,

I'm not sure whether to be sad or overjoyed most of you aren't coming to the wedding

    Dear June,

I hate you, and you are the last month I ever wanted to be married in. I know multiple people getting married on every weekend in June, including a girl at my Church on the same day...and I've had 3 people RSVP no because they are going to her wedding instead. Thanks for telling me?

    Mariah,

Network with anyone you can think of. Have lunch meetings, coffee dates, whatever you can. This will give you an opportunity to talk to people about what you want to do and ask them somewhat formally to pass along your name. You'll be surprised what you can learn by just asking. As helpful as Monster and other sites can be, being in front of people is more effective. Asking us is a great start.

A bank is a great idea. There are always opportunities for growth at banks too. Also, go to every job jair out there.

    Hope this helps!

    Emily

    Mariah-

My maid of honor is an officer at the Chase bank in Sherman.  She loves it and wouldn't recommend working for any other bank.

Also, I read that Cigna is hiring 700 people in the area... I know they have a location near Las Colinas but maybe one in Dallas too?  Might be worth looking into.
