Nice 'cheap' Venues

I am trying to find a nice venue to hold my wedding in, but an on a very tight budget. We only have $3000 to pay for everything. Any ideas of places?

is this the reception as well? what area? how many people? is 3,000 only for the reception ... or does that include EVERYTHING for the wedding?

Not to be rude at all but there is a vendor list and such on the top of the board! It might help.

How many people will you have?  Please check out the "Venues" sticky on top of the board.

Bridget – We are looking in the DFW area and yes $3000 for EVERYTHING.

And I've looked at the Venue listing.

Also, are you looking to serve food or anything like that?
  • edited December 2011
we are looking at about 100 people (no kids, except our own) and yes we are looking to serve food (like little sandwiches, fruit, veggies)

Hmm, that's probably going to be difficult, but I'm sure it can be done somehow. You've come to right place.  Try civic centers, state parks, etc.... you're gonna make us think outside of the box here!

Does that also include photographer, decorations, DJ/entertainment, cakes... like everything, everything?

Word of advice... the best way to fit a budget is to cut the guest list.
  • edited December 2011

    lol sorry.

most of the stuff is going to done myself, with my BM's. and just have someone set up the day of. Cake is going to be a wedding gift.

and cutting the list is going to be hard, we both have 7 siblings a peice.

Are you open to having a Friday or Sunday wedding? What time of year?

The YWCA in Fort Worth is always the place that I recommend... and I'm doing it again.

    http://www.ywcafortworth.org/ywca-facility-rental.html

For a Sunday, it's $1800 to rent the facility for a wedding and reception.  They cool thing is that they let you bring in your own caterer.  That will help alot with keeping your cost down.

There's also tons of DJ's that the girls can recommend that start around $400 which is a great deal.

Are you serving alcohol?  The YWCA will also allow you to bring in your own, but there are stipulations (I'm just not sure what they are)...

Hopefully more girls can chime in!

When I was looking at venues one of the cheapest places was the Brookside Center in Hurst. That may be an option if you are just doing something simple and need a place to hold it.

Maybe Winfrey Point at White Rock?  You could get married outside by the lake.  The building is 100% DIY--you bring in everything yourself.

I can't click on your bio for some reason to see when your date is--obviously if you want next August or something, this won't work.  :)

if you are looking at $3000 for everything... i'd start with a list of everything that needs to be bought for the wedding. then start figuring what money can go where... such as the marriage license is a set fee, etc. then start making a must have list, maybe list and a "can do without" list and start researching prices. for instance i knew the dress i wanted by seeing it in a magazine, so i called the store, got the price and went from there. on my photographer, i knew i wanted only those that had a package where i could purchase the images on disc, the limo i could do without. then once you start getting things narrowed down, you can say, "ok, i have $x for x".
that is what i did - maybe some others girls have another method they might suggest. DIY always helps.

I would definitely recommend a weekday or fri/sun wedding. Cake/punch. iPod music.

At my venue, Rose Chapel, you can get married Mon-Thurs for 800 for just ceremony, 1300 for ceremony plus a large room with no dance floor, or 1550 for ceremony plus a large ballroom.
Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.

The Colleyville Community Center has a relatively low cost although I'm just not sure where you would have the ceremony there.  It's a really nice space though.

I'm a YWCA girl and I think it *might* be doable but you would have to do A LOT of cutting back in order to do a wedding there for 3K. The cheapest "package" that they have is a Mon.-Thurs. wedding and that is priced for the ceremony and reception areas at $1,200.

You really don't have to do a lot of decor there because the architecture (floors, doors, ceilings and windows) are so ornate and pretty much speak for themselves. So that can cut down on a lot of the cost. Since the cake is a gift, that will also help out a lot. Catering/food would be your next largest expense so I would try and figure out the costs for that and then go from there.

Like I said, I think it might be doable but it would be extremely hard, there are so many expenses that you never think of that keep adding up.

Good luck to you and I hope that helped you out a little regarding the YWCA!

If Granbury isn't too far, try Harbor Lakes Golf Club. Rental is $500, food is super reasonable and delicious. It's a new-ish course and absolutely stunning.
    Clever girl.

We are getting married at the Woman's Center in Denton.  It is $695 if no alcohol and $795 if there is going to be alcohol served. You bring your own caterer and they have things you can rent (like table cloth, dishes, etc). Also, the lady that runs the place is so nice and helpful and responds to emails every quickly.

There is a new venue called the Riverside Ballroom. The place is HUGE! It is a mix between Edison's and 809 Vickery. A sunday rental is $1500. That includes tables, chairs, set-up, clean up. They have a great amount of audio/ lights equipment that you can plug your ipod into. There is also a billards room and a private room upstairs for the bride to get ready.

I toured it and LOVED it! There isn't a website up yet, but I did take lots of photos. PM if you are interested and I'll send them your way.

Thank you SO SO SO SO much for posting this, I have been searching for the last 10 days (i know that's very long, but it feels that way) for a decent low-cost venue for my wedding. My fiance and I have the $ to spend, but we'd really rather save it to start a family, and you just saved my skin!
I've been searching for so long and never came accross the YWCA!
    Thank you so much!!!
