Getting in Shape

75 days until the wedding & honeymoon...fat to loose, muscle to gain! Critiques please!

Alright, I had planned to start really working out once the 90 days hit. But now we're down to 75...so it's REALLY time!!

I had my last meal out last night until the wedding, as well as last alcoholic drink.

I'm ready to start! This is also the week where that I start working a lot, so it could be a little more challenging than I expect to eat right.

Here is my diet plan - suggestions/tweeks/critiques WELCOME! Remember, I'm aiming for high protien (must put on some muscle!).

Breakfast staples - 2 HB eggs, whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter, or special K cereal

Lunch staples - Grilled chicken breast, large salad, or PB sand on whole wheat

Dinner staples - Grilled chicken breast, Venison steaks, lots of steamed veggeis (broc and carrots mainly), Venison burgers/tacos occasionally large salads with chicken, Baked potatoes

Snacks - Raw veggies, Yogurt, Various high fiber/protien shake mixures (Be-fitb from GNC, Shakeology shakes), HB eggs, Fruit (apples, bananas)

All grains to be high fiber/whole wheat. All protiens to be lean. Salads with low fat dressing only (sparingly). And no pop (starting the weaning process today - out completely by tomorrow).

Alright guys - that's my "go to diet plan" that I use all the time, but never very faithfully. I do take a multivitamin daily, as well as probiotics. I've heard lots of things about flax seed - anyone a fan?

As always, they'll be the occasionally piece of pizza thrown in while at work or something...but I really have to start having some sort of self control. People order pizza and I eat 4 pieces...at least 2 of which are completely unnecessary..lol.

Thanks guys :)

  • That all looks good, but you have to make sure you're eating enough, too. A lot of people here use sparkpeople or myfitnesspal to make sure they are eating enough, and not too much, so they'll still lose weight.

Also, you said you're hoping to gain muscle, but I didn't see anything in there about working out?

  • I'll be doing 30 minutes of stationary biking with resistance (at home) before work 3 days a week. Those 3 days a week will also iclude about 30 minutes of core work. 1 day of those 3 will be a leg day, as I can basically do all my fav leg exercises at home (longes, squats, step ups). I have p90x I plan to incooporate in there to spice things up when I don't fee like biking/core work.

3 other days a week will be weight work at the gym. Weight work will (hopefully) be done with the FI, but I'm pretty knowledgable on my own as far as lifting goes. One day of bi's/tri's, one day of back/shoulders, and a short day of just chest exercises. I use mostly free weights.

I have myfitnesspal...I'm just so bad at using it regularly...ugh!

  • It sounds like you've got a pretty good plan. I don't have much to add except it takes time so stick with it! Don't get discouraged after a week of not seeing your results. I'm not saying that you will, but that tends to be a legit concern for some posters on this board.

  • That all sounds great to me but I'd just say defenetly remember to cut yourself some slack sometimes! Saying I would not eat out or have a drink for 2.5 months would just not be realistic for me and I'd end up failing on my plan. You can still eat out with friends and make healthy choices and a glass of wine now and then or a mixed drink with a low calorie mixer may be good for you to relax during the wedding planning stress! You may not need it but don't feel guilty if you do :) I eat a lot of flax seeds, mainly b/c they are a good non animal source of omega 3's, but I don't have much to say either way about them I just get flax crackers or chips or bread. Good luck!

Fish is also a great choice! Eat sushi if you do go out (and not going out for 2.5 months may not actually happen... some days we are just too busy) or if you get mexican food out, get corn tortillas, skip the cheese and sour cream and watch it on the chips. I do kickboxing which burns about 1000 calories per class. I also have a blood sugar issue where I get off balanced. Make sure to stay hydrated eat until youre full not until your plate is clean and it will melt off with a good amount of cardio!
  • I think you  have an awesome plan. Just remember to stick with it, it takes time, and if you deviate, remember it's okay and jump back into the plan. One thing I've struggled with is keeping myself motivated so i often post pictures or sayings that help remind me to keep going.
The other thing i find too is i get bored so remember to use lots of variety so you don't get bored with the food you eat or the excercises you do. One of my favourite things to do is go to a local park to work out, the change of scenery and the fresh air makes me feel awesome.
And last but not least Good luck, I'm sure that you will look stunning on your special day :)
