Getting in Shape

Progress Update Thursday

We haven't done one of these in a while, so please, share your latest progress!  This is the perfect spot to be a giant AW and celebrate.

1) I was ecstatic this morning when I got on the scale.  I've been hovering around 177 since the beginning of December (I've been losing inches and BF%, so I was ok with it) but FINALLY I'm solidly into the 175's.  Not much of a change, but yippy I'm excited.

2) It was stinking hot and humid at the gym on Tuesday night and I wasn't going to do the body weight matrix, but, I did.  AND, I did it in the shortest time yet (for those with NROL4W, it starts on Stage 3A.  It is painful).

  • Great post!

I got measured at the gym last night, and I've recently lost over 1% of my body fat (which lowered my bmi), lost 1.5 inches in my hips and 1 inch in my waist!!  I also feel like I have complete control over my eating, which can be a pretty elusive thing.

  • yaaay!
I started going to the gym right after Memorial Day and I am currently down 8-9lbs! I didn't think that is looked like I lost any weight until I got back from my family vacation on Tuesday and saw some pics of myself- for once I didn't feel so "fat" when I looked at myself! :)

I'm in the same boat as you Raynes! I started out at 183 but this morning I was 175, I feel great!

As far as inches go, I am trying to keep track of it myself but I feel like I am not consistent with the placement or how tight I'm holding the measuring tape, but I think I've lost 1.5" off my belly since June 14th!

  • Great job, everyone!

I don't have a ton of progress myself to report. I did start NROWL and really love it though!

  • I expected to come back a little heavier, but I got a little food poisoning and that took care of that!  At least it didn't really interfere with the cruise much and we still had a wonderful time!

  • I ran 2 miles straight through last week! I'm aiming to run the full 5k on Sunday. When I first started running I could do about .1 miles at a time.

Although my wedding is so close, I've still been making time to work out and have kept doing strength training (even with my trainer out of town). Oh, and I am on week 4 day 3 of the middle level of hundred pushup challenge. Feeling pretty good and excited to get the show on the road!

And one last one that I know you would all appreciate. Yay for ST!

  • Msmerymac, I just hit 2 miles last week as well!!  I started alternating walk with run and only running like .25 mi at a time.  Good luck on your 5K!
  • I went to a personal training session for lifting weights and toning muscles - tonight, it's back to the same gym for cardio!  Woohoo!

Engagement to Wedding lost 30 lb in 6 months.

Wedding (a year ago) til now lost 15 lb, and now again highly motivated to keep healthy, no splurges, and go back to gym 5 days a week!  Maybe we will go hiking up north this weekend!

  • I am now under 200lbs!!! and i'm really excited about that. I am consistantly logging my calories on myplate. Turbo Jam is getting easier to keep up with and I've started doing NROWL. I actually started that program a coupe of weeks ago and I'm definitely seeing a difference in my body. I have more muscle and less flab :) and my clothes are getting bigger :)

  • merymac, that is awesome! inspiring!

I tried to run at the highest incline on the treadmill yesterday and I could only get through 30 seconds of running 6mph! haha! I am going to try to build up my stamina so I can actually run on the treadmill instead of just walk fast at 4 mph.

did you do couch2k5 to help you start running?

I actually started doing it before I knew about Couch to 5k! I sort of made up my own thing, i guess. I started running in Janaury, because I like it better than elliptical and one of my friends runs on the treadmill. I've varied my speeds and incline all along until I found my groove - which is 5.2 mph (3 is walking and 3.5 is very fast walking for my short little legs). As I've gotten better, I've just set goals in my head. And one time last week I thought, "Well hey, I can run for 20 minutes.., actually, I can keep running. Two miles it is!" I also set a record on my 5k time that day (39 minutes flat) and ended up on the treadmill for about an hour. It felt fantastic.
