Re: IM ENGAGED, BUT IT HARD TO SHED THOSE EXTRA POUNDS

  • I think that it's great the you want to lose weight for your big day. However, keep in mind that you'll be beatiful no matter how much you weigh.
  • You may want to try replacing junk food in the house with healthier alternatives such as almonds for something salty and in season fruit for something sweet.  I know I don't miss chips when they are not in the house. It's not that I NEVER eat junk food, but if it isn't readily available, and I have to go out and get it, I give up and eat the stuff that is good for me.

Also, try looking at your liquid calories. Drink water more often. Sometimes the body mistakes thirst for hunger. If you start feeling peckish,  drink a glass of water and wait about 10 minutes before you reach for a bag of chips. Try cutting back or eliminating soda. If you go places like Starbucks, get your drinks made with non-fat milk and less sweetener. A tall non-fat latte has 90 calories. Whipped cream can add 140 to a drink, and those frappichinos are made with whole milk, so you can cut out more calories there. I used to work at a Starbucks, and people would come in and complain that their  diets weren't working, but then order a large frappichino with extra whipped cream.
  • It's all in your head! You need to find something that you really want to work towards. Seems like pictures are not doing the trick. Nix that idea! If you put your mind to it, you can do it!

  • I've also taken the things I "can't" do because of my weight and worked towards doing them.  For example, if you can't walk a flight of stairs, I walked a flight everyday until I could do it.  It's like a pps, sometimes you can't just look at the end result, it's the baby steps along the way. Good luck, as I know how difficult the beginning is.

  • Block out time in your schedule to work out and start making a routine out of it. I find if I tell myself that I am going to work out from 5-6 mwf and in the morning 6-7 before work T and H, I feel guilty if I don't do it. It takes around 3 weeks to form a habit so stick with it and you'll get there.

Also, carrying your gym back with you really works. I keep my stuff in the car so when I drive past the gym on the way home there is not excuses.

You can eat healthy and shed some water weight, but to really tone and trim you have to WORK OUT!
  • wow thank everyone for the advice
