Getting in Shape

Add more carbs?

I'm not on a low carb diet at all.  I'm trying to eat a balanced diet and doing WW.  I also use calorie count because I don't have e-tools.

So, on calorie count, they keep saying that I don't eat enough carbs:  Here's what I've had
B- peaches(170 grams) , greek yogurt (7 oz.), a tbs. honey, and coffee with 1% milk (3/4 cup)

L-1 whole wheat wrap, with leftover taco meat (2 oz.), fresh salsa (2 tbs.), refried beans (.5 cup), cheese (1 oz.), and sour cream (1 tbs.) (I know not too healthy, but I only used a little cheese and sour cream).

D-grilled zucchini (1 small), peppers (.5), mushrooms (.5 portabella) with about 2 tsp olive oil, 3/4 cup rice, baked chicken (4 oz.).

S-  WW smoothie(1 packet with 1 cup ff milk) with a 1/2 a banana in it.

All this adds up to my daily target and I got my healthy checks. So, what am I doing wrong?  Where should I add more carbs?

Edit: I added serving sizes.

Re: Add more carbs?

  • From what you listed, it doesn't look like you'd be too low on carbs...Although, you didn't list portion sizes or say how many carbs you're taking in per day either...

I'm not familiar with Calorie Count, but do they give a guideline regarding carbs?

Personally for me, what you're eating looks fine assuming there are good sized portions of the fruits and veggies you've listed.
  • I think your diet sounds perfect.  Then again, I'm on atkins :-)

I edited it to add the portions.  Calorie count says I should eat 263 grams of carbs.
  • I use sparkpeople.com and they give me a range of what to eat everyday.  My carbs range is from 171-247 a day if that helps.  My protein range is 60-133.  I try to be on the low end of whatever they give me to eat. Sparkpeople.com is a free membership if you are interested in trying that.  Maybe that will help you.  263 sounds like a lot of carbs to have in one day.

Yeah, I'd say you're fine on the carb front.

I'd say that I probably eat a "lower carb" diet, not quite low carb, so I aim for 40% of my daily calories to come from carbs, or 175-200g depending on whether or not it's a workout day.

I'm also not familiar with Calorie Count, but I know that with Livestrong/MyPlate the "recommended" amounts are just guidelines.  It always tells me I'm WAY over on protein, but that's what I'm aiming for.
