Getting in Shape

Help! Haven't been excercising and 3 months till the wedding!

I know, I know. It's terrible that I haven't been excercising. Sadly, I can't change the past. HOWEVER, I CAN change these upcoming three months! Does anyone have any good plans/tips on what I should be doing? I'm not really interested in "losing weight". I'm at a pretty healthy weight. I DO however want to lose some of that unfortunate stomach pudge I have. Flatten it out a little, maybe even gain some muscle? Does anyone know of any good workout/excercise plans I should be doing? I don't have a membership at a gym, so anything I can do at home would be ideal. Please be respectful and thank you for the help!

  • My go to exercise for my stomach is ....... Sit-ups!! Simple, easy, and they work! I do 20 sets of 50 a day. I've got a rockin stomach from doing sit-ups. I also like to do squats to tone my booty. I definitely don't need to lose weight, I just like being toned.

    absolutely, and its a great way to get outdoors and enjoy some fresh air. try to invest in some proper running shoes to prevent injury, and pace yourself. take walking breaks if you need to.

    and OP, 3 months is more then enough time to start. watch your food portions, and try to cook at home more. drink lots of water.

  • I think I'm in the same boat. I had high hopes of getting in better shape before the wedding (not that I'm not in shape, but tone more - especially the tummy). But I've always been a under-pressure girl....maybe this will be the boost to get both of us going!!!   3 months is plenty of time!  Good luck!

  • I'm in the same boat as you. I used to say 'oh I've got 12 months', then 'there's still 6 months to go'....and now we're under 4 months, so I really need to get moving! I don't have the extra $ to join a gym so I need to do all of this at home.

    I too mostly just want to tone up my arms, stomach and thighs.

    I'm thinking of trying to do the 100 push up challenge to get my arms in shape; and hopefully it will start tightening my ab muscles. And I'll have to start doing sit ups and lunges/squats.

    I started personal training a few months ago and have been going once to week only to find that my eating habits went out the window. Now I have 40 days til the wedding. Time to go strict with the diet!! GOod luck all!!

  • P90X Ab Ripper. It's a 15 minute ab workout that you do 3x week.  You can find it on google videos, separated into part 1 and part 2 (or you can spend $250+ on the P90X DVD set).  Add in some cardio and you should be good to go.

    Also, sparkpeople.com is a great FREE site for tracking calories consumed/burned, etc.  I like it alot better than WW, and have lost 40 lbs since signing up this time last year.
  • Ooooh yes, P90X Ab Ripper is amazing. Love it! I also love Turbo Jam. It's like dancing and kickboxing combined. You look ridiculous while you're doing it, but it is so fun! It's a killer workout. I have about 3 months til my wedding too, I have got to get my butt in gear! Good luck! 
  • a joined a gym closest to my work that I have to walk by to get on the subway. That way if I dont go I see it and feel bad about myself. I have to go to the gym- I can't work out at home.
  • I'm in the same boat as all you ladies!! I just started a no carb, sugar diet may 1 and so far its been ok, still having those cravings of sugar or a piece of bread but I just think.. ooook I'm getting married in less than 4 months so I really need to get on it. Try the atkins diet. My fiance went on it for a month and lost 30 pounds. So if he can do it so can I. Good luck ladies!

  • There are a ton of videos that would be great and they cost much less than a gym membership. 3 months is plenty of time. P90x is intense and incredible results. ChaLEAN is a great option too. Here is a link you can check out all the fitenss videos and nutrition if you are interested:

    Also - as far as diet - keep your protien HIGH and your carbs low. Protien, protien, protien!

  • I defintly feel you because I said I'll loose weight 8 months ago and now it's 5 months to go. I did loose some weight and key I found for myself is cut Carbs.  My cousin works for weight watchers and she said if you cut just a few things out of your diet that will help alot. Also, don't use big plates serve yourself on smaller plates. Then you'll eat less and more likely to not get seconds.  Goodluck . Enjoy the weather take walks.
  • The Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is great too! Its a butt kicker, but offers a great workout in 30 minutes.
