So once upon a time when I was younger, I developed a great love for running. This was back when I was a teenager, but I kinda got out of the habit of doing it and never could get back into it.
Now, I'm mostly out of shape, but I would like to start running again. The only trouble is, I have super-humongous feet, and so I can never find shoes that fit me in department stores, I always have to buy men's shoes, which I find to be hit-or-miss in their support for me (obviously, I'm not a man lol). I saw a forum on The Nest for exercise and such, and the vast majority of them are runners. The subject of getting fitted for running shoes at an actual running store was brought up often, how great it is to have good shoes for that, etc. It intrigues me, but I'm a bit nervous.
For one thing, as much as I'd like to get back into running, i'm not sure if i'll stick to it, or get to the point where i'm doing a LOT of running again. The shoes are highly expensive (in my mind) and I'm worried about spending that much money. I don't want to buy them and end up not liking them that much later on, or not using them specifically for running, or just not doing a lot of running in general. There's also the fact that the stores want you to bring in your current shoes, and not only are my current shoes not really for running (they're walking shoes), they're also men's shoes, and i've always been embarrassed about that.
Would you suggest that I get fitted for running shoes at this point? If so, what questions should I ask, what should I be looking for, etc? Thanks in advance!
