Getting in Shape

medifast

I had to lose some weight for the wedding. I lost 23 pounds in two months on a diet called medifast, it is healthy and created by doctors so you dont have to worry that its some phony diet. I recommend anyone checking it out, i went through Take Shape For Life, and got discounts on the food that way! Now I started the P90X routine to help tone up! I would also recoment doing this, its expensive I know, but look at craigslist, there are always deals that way! :)

Really?  You joined The Knot and the first thing you post ever is some bull about Medifast??

'Round these parts we prefer to educate people to make smart food choices on their own.  Learn to make lifestyle changes that will better their health and well being instead of going on "diets".

  • Medifast is not a crash diet. It is a physician-recommended weight loss program. The Johns Hopkins studies prove that it works. It is obvious from your post that you have no experience with the program. And I am surprised that you were so inconsiderate and aggressive-and you're a moderator? Sheesh.

I have no doubt that it "works," i.e. you lose weight quickly.  But what do you do once this diet is over?  Would you want to eat this way for the rest of your life?  Have you learned habits that you will carry over into day to day life, or are you planning to bring prepared meals to every Thanksgiving dinner, wedding, and night out for the rest of your life?

Sustainable weight loss takes time and requires you to really evaluate your lifestyle.  Kudos to you if you can keep it off, but there's a reason they say "diets don't work."
  • I did medifast too, and it has been more than a year and I have kept off the weight. It does teach you new and better eating habits and it gives you a plan to get off the "diet" and get back to regular healthy eating. maybe judgements should be left until you are educated about a program.
