Im getting married in july 7, 2012. I just had gastric bypass in april 18, of this year. Im very concern if i should buy my wedding dress now or should i wait a little more. From 295Lbs. Im now 195Lbs. and im very happy. but i dont know if i should buy my dress now or later. i know i still have time but people keep telling i should wait a little because i will be loosing more pounds....

ANY ADVICE????Undecided

Re: JUST HAD GASTRIC BYPASS

  • As much as you don't want to hear it you should wait. Both of my parents had GBS and the first 6 months-1 year is when the lost their big lb's. Give your body a chance to regulate and morph. What looks good now will be different than in a year. Congrats that it is working well and stick to it! It is harder than people make it out to be :)
  • DEFINITELY wait... While you may be happy with your results now they could easily change within the next 14 months (for better or worse...)

  • That is amazing!!! As with PP's, I think you should wait. We'll all have to have alterations to some extent on our dresses, but it's better and cheaper to make less in the end. :)

BTW, you're getting married on my birthday :)

I'd say wait till just under a yr, maybe 8-10 mo to order. You can still shop around and see what styles you like and maybe narrow it down.

Remember, if you order a dress and you have to take it in a lot, you'll be paying more for the alterations and some of the design of the dress might be lost (if there's a specific pattern on it or something).
  • You have time, so I'd wait.  You'll want your weight to stabilize a bit so you don't need major alterations.  I ordered my dress 7 months before my wedding and it was fine.
  • You have plenty of time, I'd say wait till at least this winter.
