Arm Toning Exercises

Do any of you know of any good moves to tone my arms? I feel like everything I do is making them look a little bulkier and that's the opposite of what I want :( I just want lean, toned arms!

Re: Arm Toning Exercises

  • I just read in Brides magazine to get lean arms do 50 push-ups after your morning shower (not sure why-maybe bc your warmed up?) and then do 50 more in the afternoon, and if your'e really motivated do 50 more later. But the key is to do it twice a day. I just started yesterday bc I usually dont do any strengthening at all-hoping it works! :)

  • I just saw this article on Yahoo. Maybe it'll help?

  • push ups, pull ups, and for any weight lifting use a lighter weight and more reps.
  • Push yourself by using a weight a little heavier than usual... all you need is one weight, take one end, place your arms above your head and drop the weight behind your head and then lift.  It works your tricept... it's an awesome move and will totally tone your arms in no time.  Repeat this at least 30 times.  I use 15 lbs, however I do it all the time, so just push yourself and you'll see results.

  • the key is low weight, high rep.  the moves below can be done anywhere, and keep your muscles activated for long periods of time, without any weight (you can add 3 or 5lb weights if you want).  they're also low impact on joints.

my favorite one to do while watching tv or reading is to hold your arms out to your sides (like an airplane- lol) keep your hands straight and parallel to the floor and imagine your middle fingers have a pencil tip attached.  move your arms in small circles, (so that the 'pencil tip' would draw a 6-12inch circle on the walls next to you)
i do this for 1 min going clockwise, then 1 min counterclockwise. some days i do fast circles, some days slow ones. see what works for you.

another one would be to sit with your arms straight in front of you. keeping your arms and back straight, VERY SLOWLY (I usually count to 5 for each different move) bring your arms out to the 'airplane' position, then back in front of you.  then bring them straight up above your head, then back down in front of you.  thats 1. I usually do 15 or 20 reps.
  • Thanks ladies!
